Wasps v Tigers

Post by ourla »

Saturday 2nd December, 16.30 at the Ricoh

Needless to say this is a huge game and could be season defining for both teams.

I doubt a new player will walk into the matchday squad at a key position of hooker without spending a bit of time learning the lineout calls and open play moves first. I would expect Matt Tait will be on the bench and probably Owen to start , is OTY fit after the concussion protocol?

I'd be tempted to go with Tait and Owen in the centres

Think May is out as he got injured and has HIA protocols to go through.
Tait’s got to play in my book, makes breaks and can distribute: cover tackling is usually very good.OTY may be out too! I hope FitzGerald can start as he forme, was one of few forwards to play well v Worcester!
As I said before Worcester game, any type of win will do,
but I don’t think we can win ugly anymore!Wasps to be fair were one of the few sides with internationals missing that got 2 out of 2! Confidence is high but Tigers can, with the same attitude as Exeter home and Quins away, do a job!

Tigers have got to be completely on top defensively like they were in the semifinal, however they should not completely waste their energy, keep the Rugby in Wasps 22 as much as possible and do what Harlequins did, get in their faces doesn’t matter if we get penalised a few times

Not sure on the back row. There is still a place for a breakdown menace so B.O.C has to start. If not, Evans

I'm going with...

Genge Youngs Cole
Barrow Fitzgerald
Kalamafoni Mapapalangi O'Connor
Youngs Ford
May (Malouf) Tait Owen Thompstone
Veainu

Bateman Taf/Thacker Cilliers Williams Wells Harrison Smith Malouf (Holmes)

Feel a bit guilty leaving Kitch out and full marks for him playing last Saturday in the circumstances. Wells and Williams make for a strong bench! Tait is our form 12 at the moment imho. Always thought O'Connor would be our regular 7 - not sure why he isn't really. Malouf obviously comes in if May is injured. Guessing Tom Brady needs one more A game so Holmes to bench. Hoping OTY is ok now - don't think Taf is on board yet.

There are a few reasons why:
Will Evans is also a really good no7 and is also quicker than BOC
When Hamilton was playing 7 he could make a couple of turnovers with Wells our primary breakdown operator, I think he was injured at the point anyway.

The whole set of forwards still need to learn the line-out calls, and we're 4 months into the season.
