I wish someone would replace RIL. Julian Assange would be an improvement.

Whilst i'm hardly a fan I don't think they are any worse than Fissler and at least you don't have to pay for their "rumours"

Cockers the :censored: scum coach who's got so many front rows etc into the Scots national side apart from pulling Toulon together etc etc. Same old same old argument/belief. And hen I wrote that if he was so rubbish how come he'd accomplished what he has, we get the had to leave to progress/become stale/old fashioned/not up with the modern game/ its only Scotland. Be honest, you would truck out the same stuff if his side won the EC. As for me, I'm glad he went because I think he kept us going when by rights we should've collapsed quickly, the BoD could've had a wake-up call before now, and he deserved better.

AFAIK - it's not 'they' but 'he' - a Tigers-hating Saints 'fan' who works on the basis of 'if you throw enough' etc etc. Fissler's not much better, I agree. Still - people can read whomsoever they choose!

I don't believe the footage you allude to was entirely Thacker's fault. It took eight to screw that up, not one individual, cheap shots and oversimplification as ever! From my experience the 2nd row do much to build the foundation of a good scrum, they don't call it the engine room for nothing. In any case Thacker's "evolution" could have turned him into a worthy 7. Something we do lack at the moment. Possibly due to the DoR's obsession with bulk over brains.
Strange, a so called obsession with bulk over brains and yet Thacker has nearly seventy Leicester appearances!
If you notice I was referring more to the absence of a true 7? O'Connor made a big difference today.

I think with both Fissler and RIL their "rumours" are probably correct to an extent most of the time, its more the fact they blow them way out of proportion for the clicks

Off topic but Brendan O'Connor did alright today, he plays for MOC when fit.
I thought he was a little unlucky to be penalised as a part of the tackle when making one turnover today which ended up 3 points to Racing, it looked good to me, those are the fine margins but the :censored: takers are still out with their wow wow's!
Last week we had mobility out and they didn't even need blowing away physically as they were just outclassed!
Mobility is great if it has the class!

Clowbeck wrote: Sun Jan 21, 2018 8:09 am Harry Thacker confirmed on twitter that he's off to Bristol next season. Not entirely unexpected, an important move for him and opportunity to perhaps specialise in a single position. Harry's passion and tenacity are his greatest assets right now, not enough though to secure a regular first team place.
Shame. But all the Thacker bashers on here will be made up. From my perspective I'll miss the bloke. Looks like we'll carry on buying in southern hemisphere journeymen rather than developing from within. That includes the coach. Not my type of club.
This your type of club Big Dai?

Things like the above against Sarries should not be forgotten, the players around him have done excellently in carrying him to date but it has been to their detriment in my opinion!
If only he had done more, it’s all well and good weakening the set piece for mobility but he has done absolutely nothing to warrant such special treatment since that try against Saints which was a very long time ago now, he has been average around the park since!
I am all for developing from within, but am also glad that Leicester might just be able to move on from weak forward play and get with it in terms of challenging the best!
I repeat though only might be able to move on, it has been a problem to manage from the start in my opinion but the club have done well to get over sixty appearances under his belt at this age, though it has been one of the poorest periods in the professional era, and he now leaves Leicester high and dry!
Well at least he's going to a club with a forwards coach. And what would Pat Lam know about recruiting forwards.....
I am slightly surprised it is Bristol - a while ago a good source at the Stoop said Quins were interested.

A quick search provides this quote from Cockers in 2016:
“Thacker has done a great job for us and has been brilliant,” Cockerill said. “In the last month he has been one of our best players. His open play, the ability to play the game, is as good as anyone across the board, forward or back
Which doesn't sound like an assessment of a problem to manage. More a question of using his talents properly.

A shame and short sighted in my view, although he's probably doing the right thing rather than toil in MoC's game plan. More footballing ability than 90% of players. I'd rather defend Tom Youngs any day than Thacker. You know exactly what Youngs will do with the ball, Thacker might step, might offload or change the point of contact. He might even chip over me.

Posted in the other thread, IMO missed a trick to move to 7 or even 9. He has all the attributes and knowledge to be an exceptional 9.

Apparently Jimmy Stevens will be joining as 3rd choice hooker. Makes sense as Youngs and TPN will be available most of the time and won’t stop the progress of Mahoney and Kerr coming through. Also won’t be on loads of money and probably will be happy with his squad role.

Shed a stone and 9 was always where I saw him. Doubtless, he and his coaches over the years have considered 9 - and many other positions!

Just noticed a tweet to Thacker from Locky McCaffrey:

"Cash!!! Good luck legend @harry_thacker #canplay"

A reminder - not that it should be needed - that this is their profession.

The earth shattering rumour (from the much maligned RIL) on Thacker's replacement is ex Tigers, Oirish and now Nottingham hooker, Jimmy Stevens

If this is correct next season without further signings our depth at hooker will be two experienced international men the possible use of Bateman in that position and a once promising youngster now an experienced journeyman backed up by two very promising youngsters who could develop into Premiership players. That seems to be sufficient depth, I am assuming that McGuigan will also be leaving us but have no knowledge if that is correct or not.
I am sorry Harry T has left us but he is too good a player to be a third choice and not of an age where he should spend a couple of years waiting for the internationals to decline sufficiently for him to replace them.
