May have escaped notice that Ellis Genge made a few appearances last season as a young prop, we also saw Ben Betts. Friday's game saw Kyle Traynor, Ben Betts and Owen Hills propping none of whom are in the category of seasoned pro. Tigers have a second to none record of bringing on young props but it is a position where to play before really ready is simply dangerous.

And going back a bit Ayerza, Cole and Castro were all young and upcoming once upon a time

Would that be Kyle Traynor the 31yr old Scotland international prop, formerly of Edinburgh and Bristol, not sure he comes under developmental category.

Genge had played 26 times for Bristol before he joined Leicester.
However I do agree front-row is not a place to play youngsters before they are ready.

McCaffrey confirmed as signing for the Brumbies, quality player, will be missed at the Tigers, let's hope Ryan can be a sensation!!
Re: Leicester Tigers 2017/18 Squad/Transfers/Contract thread!
Unfortunately Mcaffrey simply wasn't what we needed at No8, I could tell he was desperate to prove his worth in the AW Cup when he was doing stupid things like kicking the ball and stuff.
Btw wasn't hr originally a Brumbies player

DMAC at 15 for the All Blacks...surely that will mean he is staying in Nz?

What a signing he would have been.
Re: Leicester Tigers 2017/18 Squad/Transfers/Contract thread!
MOC was asked on Radio Leicester if there will be anymore new signings, he said that they are always looking to add quality players.
Seemed like a rehearsed answer but he didn't rule out new signings or say that the squad was complete for this season.
Yeah that deal looks off now.

In that case maybe Marty?
Re: Leicester Tigers 2017/18 Squad/Transfers/Contract thread!
Shame really, perhaps the deal was half done before Jordie Barrett got injured and now probably he won't sign

According to some it was never on. AB agents have form for this, they did it not long ago with Beaudan Barrett.

It won't be Marty for some while anyway - he's the main fly-half for Taranaki in the Mitre 10 competition.

His only comments about his future were that he has a contract for next season. If he's coming it'll be for the season after. Similar to what Saints did with Picamoles.JackFlashJonny wrote: ↑Wed Aug 16, 2017 6:15 pm DMAC at 15 for the All Blacks...surely that will mean he is staying in Nz?
Be interesting to see who kicks for the ABs vs Aus. If DMac kicks it would seem that Hanson has lost faith in Beauden kicking and would suggest that brother Barrett or DMac will be playing 15 going forward.

You can read this and take it how you want but Sam Harrison tweeted "Actually looking forward to this, exciting to see Mckenzie start"
