New name on the trophy
So with just over 24 hours to go until we see a new name on the Premiership Trophy, who are you hoping wins?
For me it has to be Exeter. What a story. When the play tomorrow, it will be 7 years and 1 day since they were promoted from the Championship.
Come on you Chiefs!

New name on the trophy...?
Do Wasps' previous titles not count then?

You correct there will be a new name on the trophy as long as Chiefs winellis9 wrote:So with just over 24 hours to go until we see a new name on the Premiership Trophy, who are you hoping wins?

Unless you are splitting hairs and saying previously it has been London Wasps?

In my mind they didn't win those games.Iain wrote:New name on the trophy...?

London Wasps have won it but Wasps who are now based in Coventry, so in my eyes (rightly or wrongly) are a new team, have yet to win anything!

London wasps where known as Wasps before 1999ellis9 wrote:London Wasps have won it but Wasps who are now based in Coventry, so in my eyes (rightly or wrongly) are a new team, have yet to win anything!
And they won the league then as well twice.
Re: New name on the trophy
IIRC, they only became London Wasps when they moved out of London to Wycombe.
The irony!

Re: New name on the trophy
Well, I'll be shouting for the Chiefs. I think it will be good for the sport and the league if it is Chiefs name on the trophy come Saturday night. They are a nice club, pretty good fans in my limited experience, and they play an attractive form of rugby. If it can't be Tigers, then I will be very happy for it to be Chiefs. A victory of team play over a misfiring set of superstars.ellis9 wrote:So with just over 24 hours to go until we see a new name on the Premiership Trophy, who are you hoping wins?

Re: New name on the trophy
Yes but they are now in Coventry. For me, being based in a new city makes them a new club. As it stands, the Wasps trophy cabinet is completely empty.RagingBull wrote:London wasps where known as Wasps before 1999ellis9 wrote:London Wasps have won it but Wasps who are now based in Coventry, so in my eyes (rightly or wrongly) are a new team, have yet to win anything!

Re: New name on the trophy
I hope it's the Chiefs - as much as anything as anything to make the point that if there had been no promotion or relegation the best side this season would not have been eligable to take part!
Re: New name on the trophy
If there was such a thing as natural justice in this world then Exeter Chiefs name should already be carved on the Trophy.
Re: New name on the trophy
Exeter win 23-20 after extra time.
Re: New name on the trophy
Dear God they made hard work of this, after we'd shown Baxter's boys the way to contain Wasps and target their weaknesses.
Pleased for my bro and mates down in Exe though!
