That article was published on 10th March.

We all know it's 99% certain he will be joining too.

Yes Well, well - old March news, it looks as though Yorkshire Carnegie are having a big clear out with their Player of the year & Captain Ryan Burrows going as well as Head Coach Bryan Redpath and Joe Ford, Jonah Holmes. Oli Goss, Andy Saul, Rob O'Donnell amongst others. But they do not state the destinations of the leavers.
I suppose we will announce the signings after all their playoffs.

Ryan Burrows is going to Newcastle Falcons, Lewis Boyce to Quins, Sione Faletau to Bristol, Joe Ford and Jonah Holmes to us. These players are out of contract : Richard Beck, Phil Nilsen, Tom Casson, Matt Smith and Seb Stegman. The rest have just been released.

I'm sorry for the old news.
It came to me having had one or three Jack Daniels.
:smt015
However is it a good signing and do we expect daddy Ford anytime?

I'm going to go with 'maybe' and 'no'.

I've not watched a great deal of Joe Ford. I suspect neither have most of us. Just because he's come from the Championship doesn't mean it'll go badly. Ben Kay came from Waterloo for heaven's sake.

That said, I remember the last time we brought in a fly half when his brother was already at the club. Rob Liley... not exactly a success was he!?

Having watched Joe play a bit during both spells at Leeds/Yorkshire I'd say that he improved significantly during his time at Sale but he is still a strong championship 10, not a Prem 10. His game management has improved but frankly neither his passing or kicking from hand have the range for him to challenge Premiership sides.

As a third choice he'd be a cheap if underwhelming back-up until Hardwick is ready for first team rugby. If he's the only other 10 coming in with GF then Toomua is going to spend more time at stand-off than most want. If that's the case then a high class replacement for Mermoz is vital.

Ben Kay was stepping up for the first time, Joe Ford has been at three Premiership clubs previously (remembering that Leeds were up there when he played there before) & ripped up no trees.

I didn't see anyone tonight who I thought could thrive in the Prem.
Ford at least has a 100% kicking record over the two legs apparently so at least we know we have a second kicker

We'll just have to let him come, have a full preseason with us being coached by our coaching team, and then judge him on how he preforms in a Tigers shirt. Howe he's performed in any other colour shirt up to that point will then become irrelevant. :smt001

I thought he looked pretty good, not just his goal kicking but general game management

Holmes looked ok too certainly has plenty of wheels

Wigglesworth and Dewi Morris however were awful
