Marcos retires

With immediate effect says the BBC
Pity he's not staying to coach, but thank you for everything.
There's a bit of a party atmosphere around Bath this afternoon - but you wouldn't get that at Leicester if we finished ninth." Richard Cockerill 7/5/16

He has made a huge contribution over the years and set the standard others need to emulate.

I know the term is used far too often these days but it is perfectly applicable here.

The man is a legend.

Hope he is at Welford Rd on Saturday so that the fans can thank him.

One of my favourite ever players, a true hero for me. Best wishes Marcos, you'll be missed!

Thank you Marcos. What a player. We have been so blessed in the front row over the years and he has been right at the top for the best part of a decade. We should offer him the moon on a stick to take on a coaching role.

A Tiger to the core and a true legend. He will be sorely missed on and off the pitch. My only wish is for him to be able to pass on his undoubted talent to others by a coaching position.

No word on what his future plans are?

His statement is typical of the man and so humble, yet we know he has been a great player and an icon for the game. I do hope we get the chance to thank him properly on Saturday.

My reading of the player reactions during the Anglo Welsh Cup celebrations was that they knew what was on the cards - a decision perhaps waiting on the new Head Coach's arrival. Interested it is the back injury rather than the calf/knee that took him off in his last game for us.

I think I read somewhere that Marcos was going to start running his family ranch in Argentina.
All the very best to him.

The club have confirmed that it is with immediate effect. It has been on the cards for some time and I am sure he has done everything possible to return to the game he loves. I wish him and his family all the success and happiness in whatever he decides to do and look forward to giving him a fond farewell at our next home game.
They said on RL that he has a family stud and racehorse stable in Argentina where he also has a horse called "Welford Road". Come on Marcos - insider info would help us all to visit you in Argentina - hehehe.
Hehehehehehehehe

How very very sad, what a fantastic Tiger he has been and he will be so so missed, a huge thank you for everything he has done for the club, and a fantastic man to boot.

Could see it was coming but it's still a sad moment.

The appearance of Ayerza on the team sheet always inspired confidence and meant that was one thing we didn't have to worry about.

I hope Genge is here for 11 years and emulates his success.

+1 to all of the above.

Maybe he could continue with one of his favourite things, telling referees what has gone on at a scrum :smt002
