Is it now time to thank the board (and Mauger)?

Post by Crofty »

Up to now we've always been at least able to put up a good fight at home but tonight has been abject, worse even than the 45-0 hammering taken at the Rec. It seems to me that the manner and the timing of the Cockers sacking has had the affect many of the denizens of this forum predicted it would, a complete collapse in team spirit and the inevitable retrograde step in on pitch performance.

So, what's to do? Sacking everyone senior of the captain might be an over reaction, however if changes are to be made, let's make them as soon as they can be made sensibly. My rationale is that this season is now basically done for, I see no reason to believe the top 4 is a reasonable expectation so we can't really lose much (maybe top 6 for Europe next season) but if we take top he upheaval into the off season or even next season all we do is write off two seasons instead of potentially only one. Additionally, swift action will give action known entity to market to summer signings who might be put off with a coaching and/or board rebuild in the offing.

Of course this is only the opinion of one Crumbieite blowhard and will probably do nowt but mark my card. As ever, I live in hope of the turn around no matter what gets done and my support can be counted on by the team.

No, not that one!

Remember, whatever you do to the smallest of the backs you do to his prop, and you can't avoid the rucks and mauls forever...

I know you don't like it when I boo him but how else will he know he's wrong?

It's all coming home to roost!

Mauger has to go. He was hardly flying in New Zealand as a coach and quite clearly an example of why being Ex-tigers is not a qualification that merits appointment.
Looking at the maul Blaze needs to be on his coat tails.

Persuade SCW to stand in for the rest of the season and put in place a proven top level coach for next season.

Better Mr Nobody than this.

It's hard to think of any reason to keep employing any of them.

This wouldn't of happened under Cockers regime. Nilled at home?

Scrap the hotel: the club has survived for 136 years without one. Invest the the funds elsewhere. This was awful and on this evidence 7th or 8th will be an achievement.

Arguably the wrong members of the management were sacked. Abysmal. Another terrible start and no way back. The normal names stood out for effort, but not many. Youngs develops no rapport with the referee as captain and it has been evident for some time - leadership is lacking.

Thank god I've got man flu and stayed at home.

I'd imagine we are borrowing for a hotel anyway so it's not like there is money sloshing around to invest,
AM - I think he has proved he is not the answer.

Whilst l am upset at the manner of the display today.
I gotta say getting rid of AM now is not the thing to do right now circle the wagons and get the basics right and move on. If a change is gonna happen then let it be after the management structure review but not now, that's an emotive decision not the considered one.

As annoyed as I am by the abject failure of Tigers to turn around post Cockers, I have to agree with this. Steady the ship, however poorly crewed, limp to port, and press gang some sailors with actual spherical rhomboids.

The sailing metaphor may have gone too far there!

I think limping through to the end of the season is not the answer, we will just fall further behind. A completely new set up is required, and as soon as possible, allow them time to start and reshape the whole setup ahead of the summer, so that preseason is a fine tuning, not a complete beginning. New coaching setup need to be in now, so they have full control over retention and recruitment, not taking over with someone else's playing choices.
Couldn't say who though.

I'm sure that's a rhetorical question but...any coach worth the name? Always better to take over a sleeping giant of a club than one right at the top of its game. Ask a certain D Moyes!
