Does anyone know when he will actually be able to play for us?tigercaspian wrote:Well, I'm pleased to have him for the rest of the season but, as someone else said, for gawd's sake let's hope he doesn't get injured!
Toulon to a wet Kingston Park on a Friday night is bit of a shift though!

Depends on International commitments I can't remember if he's been picked in France's national 35 squad but I would be very surprised if he wasn't. I would assume that if he is available Mauger will blood him in the home game against Gloucester on the 11th of February.

Starting for Toulon this afternoon, came out on his own before the rest of the team as if saying au revoir
Re: Maxime Mermoz (centre, Toulon) close to join Leicester
That is good news Mark62 so it looks like he may be available for Tigers earlier than thought!

He was always due to arrive on Feb 1st AFAIK, i.e. middle of next week.

I wonder what "advice" Richard Cockerill may have given him with regard to his move to Tigers!

On his Twitter account lots of retweets of the video with the comment 'his last game' and a tweet thanking fans for last four years etc.
So on his way methinks.

If I were Mermoz I would have ignored any advice that Cockers gave me on playing matters, as the man has just been sacked he didn't leave of his own accord.

Despite not leaving of his own accord, I sincerely doubt that Cockers would provide any advice that would be counter-productive to a team, and club, that he still feels very attached to, no matter what his personal feelings towards 'elements within' - if indeed he has any of those.Noddy555 wrote:If I were Mermoz I would have ignored any advice that Cockers gave me on playing matters, as the man has just been sacked he didn't leave of his own accord.
Would be a poor person/player, IMO, who would dismiss out of hand any advice given by someone with such deep ties to a club that he is supposedly heading to.
Whether he keeps it in the back of his mind and later thinks a) Cockers was right; or b) Cockers was being vindictive is down to the player, take it with a pinch of salt, take it at face value - who knows, but certainly take it nonetheless from someone with long standing in-depth knowledge.

You may have noticed that I wrote advice in inverted commas - tongue in cheek!Noddy555 wrote:If I were Mermoz I would have ignored any advice that Cockers gave me on playing matters, as the man has just been sacked he didn't leave of his own accord.

Oh very droll, I hope you know what eventually happened to Robespierre if not I suggest you study the history of the French revolution.
