A three and a half year deal - should just about cover us up until Manu gets fit following his latest injury :smt005

Joking aside, I think he could be a good signing - a mentor for players like Jack Roberts, Charlie Thacker, George Catchpole etc and a useful addition to the squad with all his club and international experience.

Maybe Cockers has convinced him to come here during his first week in his new role!

Or maybe Cockers coing to Toulon was the final straw for him?

Will he continue the long Tigers tradition, especally for centres, of being crocked after a few games I wonder?

We needed an injury dispensation signing and that's pretty much as good as we could have hoped for. Brilliant bit of business.

We're all talking about this as a done deal but I haven't seen it announced by Tigers yet. Has anyone out there seen anything from the club?

Not seen much of Mermoz in recent times.
If he is in tip top shape then that would be an excellent signing as he is a top quality centre.
Leicester need more line breakers and he can do that if the service is good enough.
Jack Roberts could learn a thing or two from him if he stays, the others just don't have that level of pace off the mark.

After the timing of last weeks announcements of re-signings, expect something on Wednesday

Why Wednesday?

After the rumours of Magic Monday today...

It's a hard, tough, physical game we follow and everyone of those who play can be prone to injury.

Certainly head injuries. The fact with Mermoz is that he's 30, so will have an injury history!

I do so hope this is true, I rate him as a class player and perhaps he can combine with Peter Betham in those central positions leaving Thompstone and Petersen on the wings and Veianu at full back with Youngs & Burns at half back and a backs bench of Harrison, Smith & Tait. THen all we have to do is concentrate on getting the forwards right, Incidentally does anyone know how soon Veianu and Petersen will be back?
