Surely it's now time?

Post by L Smith »

...to find some cash to get a utility back in on injury dispensation?
Are the club seriously saying we have cover or are we saying that we can't afford it?
Wonder if Mr Cohen shared anything on this front with the Forum? If so, I can't see why that would have been one of the confidential points.

Get a 15 in and only play George Worth in the pre season fixtures and anglo welsh?
Only blood our youngsters when winning?

I'd be tempted to give Worth the 15 shirt for the rest of the season and see if he grows into the role.

Worth being a ulitily back is prob needed on the bench esp considering Williams is out for a while.

Not against spending money on a back - but actually think we should be using the Academy players and giving them game time. We had a better shape in the second half vs Wasps once Worth came on and Burns moved to fly-half - agree with other posters - let's give Worth a run to see what he can do.

It looked as if Williams will be out for a few games at least so give Worth a shot during the European games - a real sink or swim situation - to prove himself. Burns looked a last ditch cover at FB at best and desperate to play 10.

Not sure when Veainu is due back, but it was mentioned that Tait is expected to be ready for the Racing game.

Think that is fair . Give him the European games to see how it goes.

I rate worth but we are chasing games and we could do with a attacking threat at the back to try and push with the tries.

He has a big future.

Still leaves us short In the centres.
Manu / Toomua out for the foreseeable
Roberts is a 12/13 (injured?)
Smith is a 12/13 (not sure if injured or cramp today)
Tait is a 15/13 (12 at a push)
Williams is a 10 / 12 but has looked disinterested in the last 2 games and is out injured
Veianu out until? Plays 15 and wing
JPP out for 4+ weeks

Surely AM has some buddies at the Crusaders who are due a sabbatical?

So, putting in creditable performances (but not error free) against Munster back-to-back didn't prove anything. Some people (shakes head in disbelief).

If we don't give game time to the academy guys now they won't stay around. They will go somewhere else and we'll then have people on the forum moaning about how they are tearing it up for somebody else.

Worth and Thacker were good enough for the England under 20s and we can use them in the short term whilst we have players coming back. Tait, Smith and Roberts should all be available next week. If we had cash for cover we'd have spent it already.

Smith has one of our best players today. I'd happily keep him in the centres and have Worth at 15 with Roberts and Tait on the bench. Thacker as the squad reserve.

Yep. A stunning catch under pressure this afternoon. He'll be gutted with the knock on, but certainly he needs to start the next three games now that Munster (or Glasgow) are virtually assured the group in the ERCC.
