Cockerill to Toulon
Skysports have just confirmed he is going to Toulon as a Consultant until the end of the season.
Re: Cockerill to Toulon
So those who predicted an immediate 'consultant ' role were right, and the very few who predicted Toulon doubly so. Some very interesting reverberations from the news........ellis9 wrote:Skysports have just confirmed he is going to Toulon as a Consultant until the end of the season.

Good for him! it may free up Ford to be in place for next season so he can put up George's high chair before he arrives.

Mrs G made the point 'if AM had been sacked, who'd have come calling for him?'.

Re: Cockerill to Toulon
It seems that Castro's former employer disagrees with him and can stand *&^%$
Element of doubt for me whether this has been agreed at short notice, hope Mike Ford didn't approach cockers before 1st January
I do think this puts into perspective some of Cockers' comments of last few weeks, undoubtedly, IMO, he knew what was coming and probably had this squared away, might explain some of his open comments about refereeing decisions/standards etc i.e. nothing to lose.
Can't keep a good man down for long, I wish him all the best.

Hambo :- He was with England when he was injured, but he was a Tigers player, our player. He is still our player.”

Good luck to him!
Interesting that Ford reportedly suggested it.

Good luck to the guy. Shows that people who know about Rugby value the guys experience. Our loss their gain
Re: Cockerill to Toulon
Who was it on another thread who was scornful when I suggested France as a destination?
Good for Cockers, he certainly has some beef to work with there!
Whitecaps suggestion is scandalous.
All the best Cockers, do what you do best, they won't know what's hit them!

Re: Cockerill to Toulon
I would imagine Toulon, along with several others, were on the phone pretty quickly on Monday.
After some time to reflect I still think it has been a mistake to let him go, all that experience of making mistakes just to likely go through the same process, or worse, with someone else.
How ironic though, one club wants it's underperformers told off and the other wants cuddles after being told off too much.

Re: Cockerill to Toulon
Not sure what you need clarifying, he made some comments about the refereeing at Exeter and a couple of (loose) comments regarding some decisions in the Sarries match.rocktop51 wrote:Must have missed this - can you clarify please. Thank youWhitecapTiger wrote:

Prior to that I have found Cockers has been more guarded regarding his comments on refereeing, having fallen foul of voicing his opinions.
Clearly says "I do think", meaning it's an opinion/theory (conspiracy or otherwise) that knowing what was coming he was less guarded with his comments.
Not based in anything specific, just a thought.

Re: Cockerill to Toulon
What I had suspected (hoped for, actually) as I thought it would be too raw for Cockers to go to another Premiership club and have to come back to WR to play against the Green White and Red.
