We will just carry on with the proven failure that is Mauger and 2 ex Tigers players who are there because :smt017
I hope you are wrong in this, but...........

Gustard has been away from Tigers for long enough, playing for the Notnots and Sarries before coaching at Sarries, and now is England's defence coach. He fits one of our needs very well, but any incomer is going to have to get on with AM, something Cockers seems not to have managed, reading his statement. Whose fault, I don't know, but there has not been a group of coaches that got along together, to the detriment of the team, for a considerable length of time, back to Pat Howard. Llofreda said after his departure that he should have brought in his own team, such were the difficulties he had with the existing specialist coaches, and this after leading Argentina to third place in the World Cup.

The one thing we cannot afford is another split camp, even if it means a total coaching clear out at the end of the season.

I would guess that the idea of sacking Cockers in the middle of the season is so that Mauger can be given the role temporarily as a trial, without him being given a contract. If he makes a fist of it, he will be appointed. If not, a replacement will be sought in the summer. Gustard must be on any shortlist.

Hope so - I think Mauger should be given fair crack at this, though of course one of the coaches he brought in was sacked earlier in the season so not sure how long-term the appointment will be.

Personally, still haven't worked out what the difference in roles are for Head Coach and DOR. Which one selects the team? Which one devises the game plan and agreed playing style? We seem to have been "confused" about this ever since Mauger arrived. At least for the next 5 months there is only one "chief".

Wouldn't want to see a new DOR before the season ends but do think we will need some Forward Coaching as this has been an area of clear weakness - perhaps with the exclusion of our last game!

Would be interested to see what Ali Hepher could bring after his time at Exeter, and the excellent job he did with The Saxons in South Africa last year.

I like some of the leftfield suggestions like the Georgian coach, could at least give us some links to a couple of Georgian bruisers.
My leftfield suggestion would be Jamie Joseph and Tony Brown from the Highlanders. Joseph created a fearsome forward pack with no real superstars, just a brutal team ethic. Tony Brown is as inventive an attack coach as he was a fly half.
Beyond them, Gustard may not be a bad shout. Currently defence's coach with England, to take a top flight Head Coach/DoR role would be natural progression.
Daryl Gibson from the Waratahs?? Both ex Tigers, but significantly enough departed to bring in fresh ideas.

I like all these suggestions but, I think we as Tigers fans need to remember that we can't 'tempt' anyone away from a job because we don't have the money. Therefore they have to want to leave their current jobs. Gustard is set to win a world cup as England defence coach, won't move. Super Rugby teams have just begun preseason, none of them will move.

My guess, the only budget Tigers have is for Mauger to become DoR and backroom coaches to be promoted.

What say an ex Tiger and current forwards coach from just down the road??

Martin Johnson for me if he could be persuaded, maybe as forwards coach initially, then we shall see.

One thing's for sure we need someone other than Richard Blaze who only got the job because he had an unfortunate career ending injury when he still had a long contract....

It will be interesting to see how Mauger goes these next few weeks, I have heard from a number of sources that the atmosphere is not good at Oval Park, mainly due to the friction between RC and AM, let's hope they've replaced the right one!!
