Wow, bringing shame to a club who cherishes Dylan Hartley, must be bad.tigercaspian wrote:A number of posters on Saints Unoffy also agree he brings shame on their club.......

To be fair, Hartley seems to have turned a corner.

Re: Calum Clark - Again!
Clarke should have been banned for life for inflicting the potential career ending injury on Hawkins at Worcester . I was there pitchside and couldn't beleive what I was witnessing.

Re: Calum Clark - Again!
It will be interesting to see what he gets, especially as Launchbury got 4 weeks reduced to 2 for his past record, just for a clumsy kick.
Clark's was far from his worst offence, but as for his track record....
Just think for that careless kick Launchbury will be losing approx. £45,000 in match fees!!!! Puts the punishment into perspective.

Re: Calum Clark - Again!
Would it be too much for Northampton as a club to issue a statement saying that they disassociate themselves from the actions of this player and commit never to pick him again, It is only through the quick reactions of O'callaghan that saved Clarke from a very long ban, the club and management should stand up and be counted.
Re: Calum Clark - Again!
Clarke is an edge player much like Julian. Had he played for Tigers he would have been lauded as a warrior in the Tigers tradition. Time to give the hypocrisy a rest. Tigers have gone soft under Cockerill and at the behest of the fan base. We now have a pack with no edge. Even Tom seems a shadow of his former self.BengalTiger wrote:Would it be too much for Northampton as a club to issue a statement saying that they disassociate themselves from the actions of this player and commit never to pick him again, It is only through the quick reactions of O'callaghan that saved Clarke from a very long ban, the club and management should stand up and be counted.

How dare you impugn Julian's name! Julian was a face to face old school handbags player not a snide cheap shot merchant. You should be ashamed of yourself.SIBARITE wrote:Clarke is an edge player much like Julian. Had he played for Tigers he would have been lauded as a warrior in the Tigers tradition. Clark bears no resemblance either as a player or a gentleman to Salvi or White - in fact, he's not fit to lace their boots.jgriffin wrote:How dare you impugn Julian's name! Re: Calum Clark - Again!
Calum Clark of Northampton Saints will appear before an RFU Disciplinary panel charged with striking with his elbow, contrary to Law 10.4(a).
The incident occurred in the first half of the Aviva Premiership Rugby match between Northampton Saints and Worcester Warriors at the weekend and Clark was subsequently cited by the citing commissioner for dangerous play on Worcester’s Donncha O’Callaghan.
The Northampton flanker will appear before a three-person RFU Discipline panel in Coventry on Wednesday 23 November.

Really? I remember Julian punching Perry at Newcastle while another Tigers player held Perry down.jgriffin wrote:How dare you impugn Julian's name! Re: Calum Clark - Again!
No sorry, I disagree.
Theres being hard and being a thug. The likes of Johnson and White, along with many other non Tigers, including the likes of Courtney Lawes are hard on the edge players.
Calum Clark is just a thug. Sometimes players go too far in the heat of the moment, but the things that Clark has done are calculated. You have time to stop breaking someones arm, and he certainly had time to not stick his elbow out and change his direction to O'Callaghans face.

Re: Calum Clark - Again!
Your bigotry towards Clarke is all too apparent. Your arbitrary judgement that Johnsons uppercut to a player who merely wanted the ball was not thuggery but just edge undermines your view. Fortunately the governing body disagreed with you and he was banned.ads wrote:No sorry, I disagree.

Re: Calum Clark - Again!
There are plenty of hard players in many other clubs but I would not include Lawes in amongst them. He is without doubt a very good rugby player but sadly it is marred with cheap shops. With him primarily it comes in the form of the late tackle and off the ball niggle. The former is aimed to hurt an opposition player an the latter is designed to wind up the opposition to try and get them sent off. Unfortunately it seems to me to be a cultural thing in Saints and England appear to try and wean them off it. There is a possibility they have had some success but we shall wait and see.
If you want examples of hard players..
I would say people like Kruis and Otoje are the kind of hard players I like.
The old fashioned enforcer type player, Johnson, white, Deacon, great though they were in their day would be too much of a liability in the modern game. Their main modus operandi was retaliation and that is now likely to be picked up on TMO and your best outcome is a yellow and it could easily be red with weeks of suspension. Best to keep hot heads on a tight leash now.
As for the late hit timed to look like you were"just too late" A la Lawes /Hartley I think it is the actions of an idiot and frankly cowardly. If they put all that effort into playing the game instead they may find they were a lot better player.

Re: Calum Clark - Again!
You are not taking into account the severity, intent and long term effects of the different actions. That is why some players get banned for a couple of weeks and others (Clark, Hartley being examples) get banned for much longer. If you can't see and understand that then you can not be debated with.SIBARITE wrote:Your bigotry towards Clarke is all too apparent.
