If Fearns is 'worth' £310k then the bowl must be pretty empty anyway. I suspect we would've paid a fraction more for Morgan than £250k, but now it's all getting a bit inflation-crazy. I do wonder however if there is a Plan B that is Mafi-like, barely known but massive potential.sapajo wrote:The No8 bowl has been licked spotlessly clean! I suspect that given the state of our cash balance he is neither going to be a name or expensive.strawclearer wrote:With Carl Fearns joining Gloucs and rumours that Ben Morgan is about to re-sign for the C&W's, who's next in line to be our "big, strong, ball-carrying 8" for next season?

I wonder if plans B & C revolve around Hamilton and one F Tuilagi?

Well, necessity does rather require you to 'uncover your potential' so, yes - maybe.fentiger wrote:I wonder if plans B & C revolve around Hamilton and one F Tuilagi?
Fortunately for us devotees of the Forum, this needn't stop us speculating. Cockers may need to be a slave to necessity but we can be students of envy and desire!!!
Happy days clearing straw from the pitch before the Baa-Baas games! KBO

Mulipola, Mafi, Goneva and Veianu, all players relatively unheralded upon arrival who have panned out particularly well in recent times. If that's the level of unheralded player we could unearth for No8, and potentially centre or fullback, I'd be happy enough.
Re: Leicester Tigers 2016/17 Squad/Transfers/Contract thread
Not sure about Mafi but the other 3 already had international caps.

Ah! Now something in my dim grey matter has reminded me that Mulipola was an 8 before he came to Tigers!FrontRowUnionMember wrote:Mulipola, Mafi, Goneva and Veianu, all players relatively unheralded upon arrival who have panned out particularly well in recent times. Mari had already been capped whenever he arrived.mol2 wrote:Not sure about Mafi but the other 3 already had international caps.
As for Mulipola, we had to get his contract to play at number 8 for Hawkes Bay cancelled. Who ended up at 8 for Hawkes Bay?
O'Connor!

Having said that those players were capped, Logo, Steeeve and TV weren't 'known' or targets for AP clubs, and Veainu was unattached AFAIK.

Fearns AND Morgan! Gloucester just being greedy now. May as well grab Manoa too
Re: Leicester Tigers 2016/17 Squad/Transfers/Contract thread
To be strictly accurate, O'Connor played at 7 for the first part of Hawke's Bay's season, but then moved to eight due to injury. It has to be said he was absolutely superb there, in the style of Kieran Read.
