But that was all purely idol gossip from the crumble so who knows on that part.
Losing the captaincy, yet frankly being the effective leader on the park, might rankle. However a French payday would help, and also we should be used to megabucks being thrown about while the richboy bubble expands.

Well if Slater was to go we would def need to be looking at another Lock IMO.
You could replace Kitto with White IMO although if Harrison was to go aswell then we would def need to sign a decent 9, esp with Youngs being England starter.
I'd be really sorry to see Slater go. At 28, he's showing more than glimpses of the form that got him into the England side and I suspect his next 2 or 3 years will be his best. I'd also like to have him resume the captaincy.

He may feel he has slipped behind Barrow in the pecking order. Ed is a good leader but the captain should be nailed on for his spot and unfortunately Ed isn't.
I prefer OTY as captain. Leads by example, certain starter and around all year.
I for one do not want to see Ed Slater leave this club. He is a Tiger through & through he's been through some tough times & come back better.
So in my mind Tigers do Not let him go.
One of the most battered 29 year olds you could meet, with no chance of recapturing his England place, and little chance of another Lions tour, he is clearly dedicated to his farm. I think his retirement is no more than one season away.

Although I still harbour thoughts of Ed at 8, I'd put Barrow and Slater in every week as locks with Fitz and Kitch as very able deputies. I'd also suggest that 'good leader, leading by example and around all year' apply very much to him!
