Tigers Accounts - 2015/16

Post by WirralExile »

Any thoughts on the release of the club's accounts for 2015/16 earlier today?

"Turnover of the club in this period was £19.0 million (£20.2 million in 2015) as the business recorded an operating loss of £424,000 (£479,000 profit in the previous year)."

A £1.2m drop in turnover and a subsequent operating loss of £424,000, down from a £479,00 profit in 2014/15. But ticket sales are up....

"Ticket numbers and revenue (£5.9 million, from £5.8 million in 2015) were up on the previous year with more than 320,000 tickets sold for fixtures at Welford Road in the 2015/16 season, producing an average attendance in league and cup of almost 21,500."

It's to be hoped that this is a short term loss and not a regular occurrance as at some other clubs that are mere playthings for the sugar daddies.

It was expected and forecasted in the world cup year given the disappointment of not hosting any matches...

Fixed assets have gone up over 2015/16 by around £18 million, I think that's principally a £10m revaluation plus £8m for the new stand. The cost of the stand will go through the p&l over a number of years through depreciation.

'Land is not depreciated. Depreciation on other assets is calculated, using the straight-line method, to allocate the depreciable amount to their residual values over their estimated useful lives, as follows:
Welford Road - freehold buildings - over periods up to 80 years
Oval Park - freehold buildings and short leasehold property - 10 to 50 years
Fixtures and fittings - 3 to 10 years'
