Use of the Shepherds crook
From a coaching perspective I was impressed by Cockers replacing his marque player for an academy recruit, it showed that no one was immune from the shepherds crook, if you are seen to be slacking.
Can anyone remember such a public statement of discontent by Tigers management.

Re: Use of the Shepherds crook
I take it you mean Roberts on for JPP?
Was that defiantly tactical?. Did JPP not have a niggle of some sort?interesting if that is the case .. if so was it for the balance of the team or specifically unhappy with his performance? True his effort or lack of it to get the miscued kick from Ford cost us a try from nowhere. Up to that point Bath didn't look like scoring!
It is good to see that someone like Roberts can be trusted, he is quite a good little player

Re: Use of the Shepherds crook
JPP was reported to have a niggle and was taken off as a precaution.....can't read anything more other than that.

JPP is not one of our marquee players..surely they are Tuilagi and Toomua??BengalTiger wrote:From a coaching perspective I was impressed by Cockers replacing his marque player for an academy recruit, it showed that no one was immune from the shepherds crook, if you are seen to be slacking.

Due to the exchange rate in SA I would say he is definitely not a marquee..

Coming out of the changing rooms for his dinner 40 mins after the final whistle, he was limping and a slight grimace was seen on his face!Tiger_in_Birmingham wrote:He had the physios on a couple of times shortly before going off.Tigerbeat wrote:JPP was reported to have a niggle and was taken off as a precaution.....can't read anything more other than that.

Re: Use of the Shepherds crook
The commentators said it was tactical! the only wincing I saw was when he got robbed on the high ball.
Also I thought marque players could not be someone already on your books, a silly rule that I hope has been changed.

Re: Use of the Shepherds crook
Not in the 23 for this weekend, so clearly injured.
Re: Use of the Shepherds crook
This is what would have been marked on the substitution card, passed to the 4th Official, as the reason for the change.BengalTiger wrote:The commentators said it was tactical!
If he had been marked as injured, he could not have returned to the game if required.
