The total figure given was £310k in the media.Hot_Charlie wrote:BIttySmalls wrote:Yes, I heard that somewhere too.tigercaspian wrote:For £65000 more pa than we apparently wanted to pay..
So is that a sign of our inability to compete financially for top talent or have they just overpaid?
Considering he's hardly a salary cap busting player (albeit very good), I'd suggest they've paid massively over the odds for him if the £65K figure is correct.

For a non-international that's an awful lot of money. I think Tigers' may have done a good bit of business in not chasing him and bettering Glaws' offer.jgriffin wrote:The total figure given was £310k in the media.Hot_Charlie wrote:Considering he's hardly a salary cap busting player (albeit very good), I'd suggest they've paid massively over the odds for him if the £65K figure is correct.BIttySmalls wrote: So is that a sign of our inability to compete financially for top talent or have they just overpaid?

Oh no he is not going to play in the Premiership after the pounding he had from England, Rest not Pounds!!strawclearer wrote:South Africa head coach Allister Coetzee has confirmed that second-row Eben Etzebeth is set to sign a short-term deal in the Premiership.
“I can assure you it is definitely going to happen. I’m not sure which club he will join though,” said the Springbok head coach.
Hmmm...that's a confirmation?

Eggchasers Rugby Podcast are claiming the likelihood is that George Ford is going to Sale !!!!
Really can't see this one, it just doesn't add up.
The justification seems to be that we won't have enough room within the cap and that they have heard a player has been told he cannot sign for Sale as they have already allocated a large sum for a star player.
Still can't see it.

Re: Transfers & Rumours Non Tigers 2016/17
I'm well aware of his age & position. My point still stands- the contract in France has vastly overstated his salary expectations. On that basis "could" isn't quite good enough. Would he walk into our current 23 at this moment? Yes. Would he next year? Maybe not- especially with the injury record. Rumoured £300k pa backs up my point. As does our refusal to increase an already (alleged) decent offer. Let's wait and see what the alternatives are.4071 wrote:You know that Fearns is still only 27, a monstrous carrier and that he plays all three back-row positions?Lammy wrote:I hope this is true. I've got alot of time for Fearns but our chance was when he left Bath. 18 months later after a lucrative spell in France I'm not sure he would tick our box especially for three years. It's a shame but we need an 8 that will peak next season and sustain form for a further 1/2 years. We need a starter.sapajo wrote:L'Equipe reporting Fearns has signed 3 year deal to Gloucester

He's the sort of player who could easily be a Tigers starter for at least three years and would be almost guaranteed a spot in a first choice 23.
My only issue with him is his injury record - he spends a lot of time broken due to his abrasive style of play.
EDIT: Plus he laid out Gav Henson with one punch in a pub fight, which is worth a contract on its own... :)

Will be 28/29 next season.
But yeh he is a class player would def have him at Tigers, but not for that price TBH.

I guess I should have posted this on here rather than the Tigers rumours thread - since it's nothing to do with us now!

No we are not up the creek, in fact we are looking a bit better every week. Remember, little Will Evans made Morgan look veyr average when they played us.

Liam Williams has signed for European and English club champions Saracens after turning down an offer from the WRU.
He is believed to have penned a two-year deal with the Aviva Premiership leaders and will join them for next season.
Rumoured deal in the high £300k - I'd heard £375k but who knows?

I would not be surprised that your upper figure is correct, remember that he is a current international and £300k was soooo last year for them. Love to see their wages (and all other AP clubs) made transparent in NFL style - just count exactly how many internationals they have, including those like Jim who were international when signed.strawclearer wrote:Liam Williams has signed for European and English club champions Saracens after turning down an offer from the WRU.
