Is that the Greg Garner from Coventry?

(Who appears to dislike us!)

Yes, the horse's rear end from the town of the visiting club. And before anyone says that's true of (the vastly improved)Barnes, he's actually from the Forest of Dean AFAIK, not Glawster. Expect random decisions, ludicrous offside blindness and the rest of the Duff Referees Playbook. I suppose we'll get Barnes or JP for Stains this year, which will be consolation.

A game played on grass in the open air by teams of XV.

Ah. At least now, while watching the game from the stands, when a decision puzzles me, I shan't waste too much time trying to work out what has happened as most decisions will not be related to actual events :smt003

We shouldn't be concerned with who's reffing the match we should be concerned with Tigers performance. Judging from last Fridays game their are still 3 perennial problems:-

1. Powder puff tackling particularly from our backs.

2. Defensive positioning again from the backs but also the forwards too.

3. Inabilities to retrieve the ball in the loose, if Harry Thacker is fit I'd play him somewhere in the back row just for his capabilities in the loose. Oh for the days of Julian Salvi.

Hmmm.

We must remember this is rugby football - not wendyball. Any tuneful ripostes to 'Sir' should reflect this. May I suggest:

I think we were just luring Wasps into a false sense of security last week and we'll blow them away this week. Just you watch.......

According to Cockers' briefing today, there were no injuries from the Glaws game, and Mikes Williams and Fitzgerald are fit. Owen Williams seems to be fifty fifty. Crofty is not fit!

so in football a man from Bristol has has in the past attended Leicester City games, with friends despite him being a declared fan of another team, couldn't ref a Tottenham match, who were the title rivals, because of a potential conflict of interest yet in Rugby a man can ref a team that plays in the city he lives?

just for the sake of appearances Greg Garner should never ref a Coventry Wasps game

Knowing this and if both M. Williams and Fitz are game ready, I'd put them both straight in. At the expense of Slater and Hamilton.

If it were up to me:

1: Ayerza
2: Youngs
3: Cole
4: Slater
5: Barrow
6: Williams
7: O'Connor
8: McCafrey
9: Youngs
10: Harrison
11: Pietersen
12: Smith
13: Manu
14: Betham
15: Veaniu

reps: McGuigan, Genge, Bateman, Kitchener, Hamilton/Fits/Evans, Kitto, Burns, Thompstone.

Expecting a very tough match.

There is no way Sam Harrison will start the game at 10 unless both Burns and Williams are injured. He may start ahead of Ben Youngs though.

Or, indeed, any other professional rugby game. I'd be happy to see GG, Wigglesworth and (controversially) Nigel Owens consigned to refereeing 3rd tier tiddlywinks
