The only change I would make to the above is to have Kitchener starting and Slater on the bench.

(might also go for HT on the bench)

I think that might just be spot on Soggypitch. Bateman making a big claim at TH i understand. Winning well first time out, and away from home, would send a massive message. Pre match nerves already.

Would like to see Veainu at full back instead of Tate.
Would prefer to see Harrison at scrum half, didnt think Youngs performed well last friday.
Would start Kitchener instead of Slater
Come on you tigers!

You have a point about B Youngs he may not be fully sharp yet, having returned late from England duty. However Kitto looked razor sharp last Friday.

1. Ayerza
2. T Youngs
3. Cole
4. Slater
5. Barrow
6. McCaffrey
7. O'Connor
8. Hamilton
9. B Youngs
10. Burns
11. Pieterson
12. Manu
13. Roberts
14. Betham
15. Veaniu

16. McGuigan
17. Genge
18. Bateman/Balmain
19. Kitchener
20. Evans
21. Harrison
22. Smith
23. Tait

Although given Harrison's performance last week at fly half I wouldn't be surprised if he started their. Also wouldn't be surprised if our England duo were on the bench due to lack of fitness. I put Roberts in as he has had a good pre-season and has impressed me. Deserves a chance.

I think we can assume that Bateman is being used as a TH for at least the first part of the season. It makes sense considering we are now likely to lose Genge and Cole for the Autumn tests to have the extra prop cover. If OTY also disappears he still provides adequate cover at 2.

Already a go at Ben Youngs even though he is head and shoulders above the other scrum halves at the club..
Who is this Tate? Is he a sugar daddy or is that Mr Lyle

Agree Veainu should be 15. Wasted on the wing - just does't get enough ball. Arguably our most potent attacking option (Betham and Manu may disagree) and yet he sees limited ball (i.e. almost zero) at 14.

Looks like we should be able to put out a strong 23. I noted Austin was tipping Glaws last night.

If I have one concern it is Fred. Had a really poor game there last year and they were on his back from the get-go although we should always have given Tommy Bell the kicking duties that day IMO. Signs Fred was maturing last year... time to show the shed he has real quality and shut them up!

Fairly happy with that team however I would put Harrison in at No.10 after his display last Friday and Burns on the bench. I too would prefer
Veianu at No.15 and bring in Thompstone in his place on the wing with Burns, Roberts and Tate being on the subs bench Are we sure Manu is fit enough if he continues to Hogg the ball he will find JPP less forgiving than previous wing partners.

Like this for the most part. Cant see JPP starting having only been with the squad 5 mins esp when we Tompstone available

Kitto i think will start at 9 with Sam on the bench covering 9 & 10.

Agree that Veainu should be at 15 but he wont be.

Veaniu should be ahead of Tait at full back.
I thought Hamilton was an 8 whilst McCaffrey was more a 6, not that this is particularly important.
