Ha Ha Iain good post. Thank god we haven't drawn Ulster or Leinster in the European cup. Perhaps we need to design little green men and place them next to the Crumbie saying no you fool the Holland and Barrett stand has moved.

Top man Iain, memories rekindled and cutting through naming confusion;I well remember as a 3 - 8 year old standing on the slag heap or banging against the corrugated iron at the back of the Crumbie Stand ( or carrying beer from the ABC bar for dad ). The other stands were terra incognito for me.
Everyone I know or bring along also still call the Crumbie Stand the Crumbie Stand, commercialisation will take time to overcome reality.

That explains a lot! As an 8 year old, I also used to play on 'Clinker Hill' as we called it before returning to my Dad and the other sloe gin drinkers in the (posh) Members' Stand. I often asked him: "Pater - why do those young oiks from the Crumbie Stand smell of beer?"

Now I know!

If that was your objective, you merely had to post on a thread that had been infiltrated by DarganJ, Roly, Etc.

The Crumbie is the Crumbie and does not need developing apart from reducing the sound from the PA speakers which interferes with our conversations at half time.

I always thought that the loud volume was to wake up the Crumblies of the Crumbie to remind them to visit the 'facilities' and thereby prevent accidents.

Disagree Tom Weston. The Crumbie does need redeveloping and in the moment where we have tons of money flooding into the game and the banks are prepared to lend, then this is exactly the time to do it. Whether you were in favour or against Brexit, nobody can predict the future so let's seize the iron whilst it's still hot. If we prevaricate and my worst fears about Brexit unfold then sponsorship will take a serious nosedive in 3 to 5 years time.

There is a limit to how much banks lend a business and we are currently considering the purchase and development of the Granby Halls site. The Crumbie does need developing I agree, although I have a fondness for my comfy wooden bench in Block Q, I realise that the stand is old and whilst I prefer my bench to plastic seats I know I am in the minority.
When borrowing from the banks the first question asked is "how will the loan be repaid" Plastic seats may in fact reduce the capacity, so no extra money on the face of it. Where is all this money flooding into the game? Few clubs are showing profits, those that do show only minimal profit compared to turnover. We, the Tiger's fans have stated many times that we do not want our club to be at the mercy of a sugar daddy that may walk away leaving our club in disarray as per Richmond, London Scottish, Bedford, Wasps and Newcastle or vulnerable like Bath.
The increased revenue coming into the Premiership clubs will be going to increasing players wages and squads, improving grounds and facilities and of course player care. The money if it is there must be spent sensibly, since the game went professional, Tigers have purchased the ground, financed two magnificent new stands and vastly improved training facilities whilst maintaining our team in top European competition and the Premiership. In my opinion the board have done wonderfully well so far and I look forward to them doing even better

Noddy Please read the above posts and the earlier ones on Desso & site development.
Tom Weston has not suggested in his post that the Crumbie needs redeveloping.
Simon Cohen and others have advised the recent availability of the Granby Halls site development & hotel takes priority & build for the future with off season income, the Oval Park replacement and a future Desso pitch, the Crumbie multi story carpark, all these take time and money. Tigers is a well run plc and without the liabilities of borrowing and a fat cat sponsor we need to spend & develop within our means.
We have already seen several of last seasons major sponsors withdraw from this coming season so that downturn is present now, little by little not borrow and sink!

I think the loud music woke Noddy up but that he responded too quickly before he was fully awake.

I do hope he didn't have an 'accident'!

If he's referring to Caterpillar, their intention to withdraw their sponsorship was made public last October (see here). This was just over four months before the date for the EU referendum was announced.
