Any news on DESSO pitch?

Post by grobyman »

I know that the Granby Halls site is now a project and the car park on the Crumbie side deferred. Any news re a new pitch during closed season. Normally the turf is off by now, still appears in situ.

Just wondering whether this is deferred given the costs involved around £1m that have been quoted previously.

I've not heard anything but to be quite honest, I don't think it's that important really.

To confirm what ourla has said, it was due to be done this summer but has now been deferred for, at the moment, a further season. Covert Lane was originally also to be done.

This is kinda bad news as our pitch is in a pretty terrible condition. Even dry matches at the end of the season tore the pitch up.

I wouldn't say it's bad news and I wouldn't say the pitch is in a terrible condition either.

Its a question of priorities I guess, but replacing our pitch was once considered a top priority as it is a key enabler to us playing a more expansive attacking game.

Good to see the pitch being put to good use this morning, and it looks like the in goal area in front of the new stand has been re-grassed - wouldnt do that if a desso pitch was to be installed this summer I guess.

Yeh but once the granby halls site was up for sale we had to go all guns blazing or it could of been turned into flats.

It isn't bad news but the pitch is in a terrible condition, that's obvious.

The pitch although it may not look nice and full of grass has a good surface and drains well.

The fact remains that our pitch is not as good as a Deso, that is why Tigers originally decided to upgrade to one :smt022 I just hope that the money will at last be found in time to install one for the 17/18 season :smt045

I asked Simon Cohen over the weekend as I had the same queries as the OP. Confirmation from the horse's mouth.

Anyone know how the oval park sale is going?

I know the academy have moved, but are we still in a tricky situation with Wigs?
