Development Squad

Post by kpj tiger »

According to somebody on the Tigers Facebook fan group all but three of the development team have been released, he says he is personal friends with Paolo Odogwu and that Paolo is one of those who has been released, can anybody else confirm this? Seems to be a bit extreme in my eyes :smt009

Always going to be a big clear out this season

Most of the development squad are now 20/21 and you need to free up budget for the u18's coming up.

Trouble is it judge if you don't know what is going on behind the scenes.

Not surprised except by Odogwu. Seemed quite handy both times I've seen him, unlike Lewington, say, who didn't.

Surely unwise to release Paolo - he scored a belter of a try against Argentina in the pre season . Has loads of pace and skill and I'm sure his defence and kicking will improve with experience .

Putting 2+2 together here but looking at who is in the Development team we can assume Will Evans and George Worth are 2 of the 3 as they are in the team to play this weekend, that means only one place for one of Bryant, Owen Hills, Dan Hogan, Maksymiw, Will Owen, Povoas, Thacker Jnr or Fred Tuilagi. Seems a bit ruthless if you ask me

I don't think the 3 is the actual number though might be.

Few too many trading on their surnames. That won't carry any weight with Mauger

Like?

Thacker and Tuilagi are the only surnames I remember.

This must be :censored:. You can't release an entire team of players and have nobody to replace them. Whilst some, even maybe a few will be gone all but three is ridiculous. Plus we have the LV cup next season in which the players will be needed.

Guess you replace them with the U18 who are turning 19?

Don't know how small the budget is for the development squad.

You can add Povoas to that list Raging Bull. My understanding is that all 3 of them have played in National 2 this season and have hardly set the game alight. If they can't shine at level 4 I would suggest that the premiership is a step too far. Time to let go and let them find their level

Forgot about him.

Shame about not having a full A league really would allow clubs more chances to have a look at youngsters properly.
