It's only fitting that he's one eyed. I've always thought he was a type of tent...

You'd have thought that someone that had played professional Rugby would have have had a bit more clue about the laws :smt009

Thought he finished with Bath in '94 which would mean........he never played 'professional' rugby and was only ever an (Sh)Amateur :smt002

Still is too....... :smt003 :smt002

It wasn't just Barnes either, Greenwood and Quinell almost as annoying, be grateful Goodey was there for some useful insight.

Agreed on all of the above. I know BT Sport costs some of us an extra subscription but they have saved the day in my book for TV coverage. Whenever it is Barnes on commentary my blood pressure rises. He narrates rather than commentates and resorts to describing again, what we have just seen for ourselves. As noted by others, he then adds his own biased, often wrong, interpretation. For the most part he can't even get player's names right. Yesterday he could not even see that it was Farrell who had infringed and blamed another Sarries player who was nowhere near the incident. Farrell's No 10 shirt was clearly visible on the TV coverage but Barnes got it wrong - again. He has seriously lost the plot and for the good of the game, should hang up his microphone. Thank goodness SS only get a few games now. BT Sport do a much better job although I could really do without Healey's sarcasm and personal insults to those alongside him in the commentary box.

I completely agree I didn't realise how much I love BT Sport until having to listen to Barnes drivel...

Very thankful our game is with BT they really have added a lot to Rugby imo...

Barnes should be retired and let Greenwood takeover he is alright :smt023

Greenwood is aright but that's about as good as it gets. Trying to excuse Marler for a kick to the head, no matter how slight was inexcusable

You must remember, in some eyes, Farrell can do no wrong. :smt007

Cheer up - BT Sports are covering the final so you'll only have Dayglo to complain about.

I watched this semi final on sky and it was one of the worst commentaries that I've ever heard. At one stage one of the commentators got the teams muddled up saying Sarries had been awarded a penalty when in fact the reverse was the case. Commentaries on BT TV are so much superior.
