Decent real ale pubs close to City Ground?
Anyone got any helpful suggestions/ local knowledge etc.

This is relevant to my interests too.
I may take the opportunity to visit Ye Ole Trip to Jerusalem as it's near the train station, but not really near the ground.
On the Facebook group when I asked a similar question I was referred to the Stratford Haven which is near the ground.

Yep, best bet is to give yourself an extra 20 minutes to get to the stadium and head for the city centre.

Pierepont Road? Best mind your neck, no hanging about!
Re: Decent real ale pubs close to City Ground?
If your on the train.. theres a wetherspoon called company Inn and next door a pub called canalside, both at castle wharf, canal st, both a 4 minute walk from the station

The Trent Navigation Inn on Meadow Lane, near the County ground has its own brewery. Otherwise the Larwood and Voce next to the cricket ground also does decent food.
Near the rail station try Fellows, Morton and Clayton on Canal Street. A cask marque pub with a decent range of beers.

It does to me!
The first one looks the business but I think larwood and voce might be worth popping in on the way past also. Hope there are no 'bouncers'......boom boom
Thanks everyone for the advice.. happy swilling

Agreed. I was in there a couple of weeks ago and the beers were excellent. The Embankment is another Castle Rock pub although I guess that'll be snided out due to its locality.Granby wrote:Vat and Fiddle - at the Castle Rock brewery. Loads of ale to pick from.
As a matter of interest, I also visited the Trip on the same day as mentioned above. There was a young guy (early 20s) in there wearing an old Saracens shirt. With a smile, I said, "You're a bit brave wearing that this far north, aren't you?" Whilst his two friends laughed, he looked at me as if I was something he had just trod in. I guess I have another reason not to like Saracens.

So that's the drinks sorted, can anybody recommend a place to grab a decent curry?
