Thinking positive for the final
Assuming we win the semi final as positive supporter I was looking at the best way to get to Lyon but Eurostar and the flights all seem to be €300 plus.Does anyone know of a lower priced alternative way of getting there?
Re: Thinking positive for the final
Cheapest I could find were £300 upwards. Luton to Lyon was the cheapest with easyjet.
Alternatively, if you go from Birmingham on Friday at 06:55 and go via Munich and leave Lyon on Sunday at 10:15 and go via Zurich, it's only £172. It means it will take 4 hours to get to Lyon and 4 hours back but saves a lot of money.
I was looking to book myself, but I cannot get that weekend off work!

Suggest you try a website like Kayak.com and see if you can find something that is convenient and cheaper. A quick search indicates direct flights are more expensive than those with a change, e.g. at Paris.
You could also consider flying to Geneva and getting a train to Lyon, could be a pain though for a weekend.

Nowadays referees decide matches, players by how much.

A complete rip off, as one would expect...... Best to fly somewhere about 2/300 miles away, Paris/ Stuttgart/ Geneva/ Grenoble/ Clermont----- hire a car and hopefully that will be much cheaper
Or its 500 miles from Dunkerque,,6 / 8 hours as I often do it.

Re: Thinking positive for the final
Driving there isn't too bad. My eldest was at uni there a couple of years ago and we drove over for weekends a few times. The roads are very quiet, and, if I remember correctly , it was about 60E for the tolls.
Re: Thinking positive for the final
I will deffo be driving - it is relatively easy with 2 drivers and even easier if you do the late night ferry - have a meal and a break on board - land on France midnight and you will be there by early morning. Sounds tiring but do it in 4 legs (one in this country) and it really isn't too tiring.
Hehehehehehehehe

Re: Thinking positive for the final
We go every year so all travel and hotels booked up months ago at budget prices
Re: Thinking positive for the final
Yeh, to get the best deals on the Eurostar you have to book at least 3 months in advance. For anyone wishing to use it in general, you can book the direct Eurostar to Lyon/Avignon/Marseille 6 months in advance and it is very cheap.
You can currently get the Eurostar for around €200 return if you take the direct train on the Saturday morning which gets in at 13:00 but I'm not sure what time kick off will be and whether that might be a bit late.
I have done the drive once but have friends that have done it a few times and as has been said before, it's not too bad at all, especially if you can share the driving and if you are staying in a hotel here with parking then it may make the most sense.
I, on the other hand, will be popping onto the tram about 2 mins from my flat, to get to the stadium. If we make it then this will offically be the smallest distance I will have travelled to watch us play, just hope we make it.

I shall be propped up on a bar stool at O'Reilly's in Amsterdam watching the final. The 14th will be my (and Julian White's) birthday and this long weekend away has been planned for months.
Re: Thinking positive for the final
One easy option is to fly to Geneva or Grenoble and catch the train.
Done it myself on a previous occasion when Tigers were in Europe, and worked out fine.

Re: Thinking positive for the final
About 1&1/2hrs from Grenoble & 2hrs from Geneva stations
Re: Thinking positive for the final
I am going by eurostar and tgv. It's hotels I'm interested in. Any suggestions gratefully received; luxury not essential, a few Tiger faces would be nice.
