I can be called "English so-and-so", the terms actually vary, in Wales and that is not racist, allegedly as I'm the same skin tone as my Welsh brethren. Thus is "Gypsy Boy" actually racist?

What I don't understand is why is it offensive? If someone called me a gypsy boy, I'd just laugh as I'm not one and if I was one then the comment is true so neither is offensive is it?

Tend to think if Samson Lee was a Jew and Marler called him "Jew Boy", there would be serious consequences.
As Gypsies are an official race...racism is racism and should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
Also England should be docked the game.
They have to learn to behave themselves and learn not be racists on a rugby pitch.
This is the sort of punishment we need to dish out for this offence.

Played in Wales for nearly a decade and got called far worse than that, in fact it's quite normal for most 'Welshies' to say stuff like English :censored:, English :censored: and worse. I just enjoyed dishing out a four-knuckle reply.

Anyway you can't racially abuse a Welshperson because they ain't a race, they're a nation. I don't want to go into chapter and verse but the Celt thing is a total myth invented in the late C18, there are at least 4 ancient divisions amongst those few who can genuinely claim Welsh heritage, and most Welsh these days a mixture - as are most of us - of several strands (I myself have part Welsh, part West Country, part Irish and no AngloSaxon DNA). Racial insults in rugby are nothing new although thankfully much less in fashion than in the 90s when black and Indian players routinely got abuse from the less -enlightened.ellis9 wrote:They?!
