I was under the impression that JDV was given last weekend off as he would be needed for Wasps and Saracens, as Tuilagi would be with Eng.

Just hope Smith is fit to return and partner Betham in the centres.

I hope Tait's 'tight groin' is not the start of the same injury that kept him out for over a year.

JDV is starting to look like a very expensive short term mistake, what have we seen of him, 1 home game and a bit away? :smt017

Hope it's a shorter back injury than Toms "spasm".

Hardly a mistake unless you know of a better alternative that was out there.

And according to what Cockerill has said, not especially expensive either.

Surely no-one would have been better than the money we've spent on him? I mean, he was signed injured. We need to learn from this as it's not the first time.
Thorne was great, when he played, but compare both to someone like George Smith, for what I assume is similar money, tell me who has been getting value for money from minutes on the pitch...?!

JDV will be adding a lot behind the scenes. We don't have a lot of experience in the centres so on the training field he probably adds huge value.

That's very subjective, I would have liked to see something more objective on the pitch than just 1 home game, I am sure he is here on a salary, no matter how large, we need him on the pitch.

Given the wide ranging views expressed on this forum, I would say that what a player brings on the pitch is also very subjective. However, players are primarily signed to play games. What they bring to the training ground can be very helpful, but playing games is the bread and butter stuff and is the club's raison d'etre.

If you don't play, aren't you a coach? :smt002

With no knowledge of what the deal was it is not possible to say how expensive he has been. There may well have been a clause which limited significant payments until such a time as he had recovered fully from his original injury.
