Farrell must go

Post by fortysix »

I always thought Farrell was only in for his undoubted nervelesness when kicking goals, and his tackling

Turns out his tackling stats are the worst in the backs-which begs the question
Why on earth is he in the team ??

Surely Centres ---- 12 Tuilagi or Slade or Burrell 13 Daly or Joseph and 10 Ford or Cipriani

Or will EJ ditch Ford to keep Farrell ????

If the plan was to drop Farrell I suspect Ford would be taking the kicks?

Playing the two 5/8s, supposedly both game runners. Fazlet can tackle better than Ford but isn't creative, Ford can't direct a game at international level. Neither should be in the side IMO.

I think Farrell is doing ok at 12 but he doesn't really draw defenders but often just ships it on. As I've said before I can't see what he brings to the table that 12T didn't, other than a greater potential of betting carded.
Nowadays referees decide matches, players by how much.

My Sarries mate reckons Charlie is streets ahead of Farrell, in every single fly half facet. Not sure many would disagree with that statement!!

Yeah, let's stop with the statistics abuse, thx.

"I thought Ford was supposed to be in the team for his attacking prowess... 4 runs, 5 metres made, 0 clean breaks, 0 offloads."

From my perspective, flapping at a player and letting someone else finish them off doesn't count as a tackle. Farrell is by far the better of the two defensively, from a 1-on-1 perspective, although he does do some stupid things, especially at the breakdown.

Ford had a dreadful game. He fell off tackles, was indecisive and got caught in possession when inside the Irish 22 and didn't kick well. No clean breaks, no metres made and he isn't allowed to take conversion attempts.

Why wasn't he taken off instead of Farrell, with the back line moving up one, Brown going onto the wing and Goode taking over at 15?

On current form, I hope he is "rested".

Not a fan of either, but agree with JG, neither should be near the side, though Fazzlet was marginally better than Ford. Ford is out of his depth at international level just now. He might improve, but his club form has been weak recently too.
"If you want entertainment, go to the theatre," says Edinburgh head coach Richard Cockerill. "Rugby players play the game to win.15/1/21.

Keep Farrell and Ford and let Manu get properly fit before Jones sends him back broken!

Agreed! Very poor display: hardly looked interested in defense (putting your hands on someone, then stepping back for a team mate to finish the job is not acceptable at any level) and he seemed absent all round.
England won in spite if Ford's performance.
