Quins

Post by RagingBull »

Crowson tweeting that Manu, JDV, Slater, OTY and BO'C will play some part in the game.

Sounds like Evans will be out for the season for Quins.

Also Burns likely out and Bell and Bai struggling.

Bryant may start.

Evans crocked! Don't take this the wrong way, I wouldn't wish a serious injury on any player, least of all a decent egg like him... but that is :censored: good news for us. That could send Quins into free fall. After last weeks botch Botica will be feeling the heat. With some of our leaders and turnover specialists back there really will be no excuse this time.

Looking at the remaining fixtures and with both teams in a downward spiral, I think whoever loses this definitely won't finish top 4.

BIG GAME. Start Pearce and get that lump over the gain line.

Too right we should start Pearce - can't understand why he has not started in the last 2 games . If OTY isn't fit to start I would start with Harry - we'll then get some enthusiasm at least !

Quins are already down to the bare bones with injuries and call-ups - this really is a great chance to put them away.

Missing from their first XV

1. Marler (international call-up)
2.
3. Jones (injured)
4.
5. Twomey (injured - he was ahead of Matthews and Merrick when fit)
6. Robshaw (international call-up)
7. Clifford (international call-up)
8.

9. Care (international call-up)
10. Evans (injury)
11.
12. Roberts (international call-up)
13. Lowe (injury)
14.
15. Brown (international call-up)

Don't know the state of the injured players - perhaps one or more may return - but that's a massive hit across the whole team.

Totally agree

Quins seem to be suffering the same we have, Gloucester stuffed them.. and with returning players this is a great opportunity for us.. I am not expecting a 5 pointer because lets be honest we only have managed that against 13 man Worcester this AP season. But 4 points will do nicely..

If Bryant starts do we get Umaga on the bench?

It could be a blessing in disguise. At most clubs Bryant would have a dozen AP appearances by now. We are lucky in that we have two international class 10s and experienced back up in Bai. Adding Bell probably delayed Bryant's chances further, but last season we had little choice with the injuries we were suffering. A chance at 10 now could cement his future be it here or elsewhere.

As for Pearce, hopefully he will start if McCaffrey wears 7.

Well, I'll be sporting and ask what's wrong with Evans?

This run of bad form has to end soon or it will be a real uphill struggle to get a decent position come the end of the season. Like some others on here I wasn't pinning too much on this season with the new coaching team and style of play in position. The lack of bonus points showed that there was still work to do but the near melt down over the last few games is worrying. Whatever the cause, injuries, poor players or poor coaching, the headless chicken / lack of effort effect has been rather worrying, I thought we'd seen the last of those days. Yes, we were beaten by better teams on the day but there wasn't much resistance.

Whatever, whilst the return of the key players is encouraging they are short of game time and will need to get back into it. I only hope they don't go mad and aggravate anything. No prediction just hope for a co-ordinated effort and everything crossed.

That's bad news for a great player.
There have also been rumours circulating that Quins had seriously been thinking of Lancaster as replacement for CO'S and that several senior players had told the Club'No way' . If this is true - and I have no verification - then along with all those injuries, that'll be very unsettling for them and we should certainly be taking advantage.
In which case, having started a post saying we'd lose three on the trot, I will happily mange mon chapeau !!

Every team has got to play 10 out of the other 11 teams again, do not sure what your getting at concerning remaining fixtures

Unsettling as a team or galvanising. If the players feel so strongly, and who can blame them, it could work against us. That said the absence of Evans will be a big factor.

Just re-read this. That's me crossing everything of course, can't see even Manu doing much with everything crossed :smt011

Cockers said Burns was showing no signs at all of concussion and should be ok to start on Friday.

I think he also said Mike Williams back v LI.

Hopefully we'll find out more on the RL Rugby Show tonight at 6. Should be worth a listen as Tim Stimpson is on, great player for us, I was there at the City Ground when his kick from inside our half landed on the bar and went over to break the hearts of Llanelli. Amazing days!

IIRC its not too long ago that Botioa played 10 against us while Evans was injured and had a belter (or was it just a half?). Just because we like to shoot our own players for a short-term dip in form doesnt mean we can safely apply the same medicine to others.
