Re: Franco-English Anglo-French banter
Living in France and having had to listen to them when England went out of the World Cup, I find it very difficult to ever support France
Re: Franco-English Anglo-French banter
Big Dai: Fronton, Buzet, Gaillac are my local wines, Montauban et Toulouse my rugby clubs; cassoulet, sanglier, chanteclere apples and goats cheese the local produce. Vive la France!
Valhalla I am coming!

Tis true, we are spoilt with good food and wine down here!
Still, I always look forward to good beer in England!

Re: Franco-English Anglo-French banter
Having grown up watching Wales regularly beat England in the 70s, I generally wanted Wales to lose. However, being married for 28 years to the late Mrs Cagey, who came from Llanelli, I had to moderate my views (as she did hers about England ). I shall probably remain neutral, although supping some Crozes Hermitage or Brouilly with my Tomme Chambery cheese
Forgot to say, to maintain my neutrality and just for Big Dai, I will also be chomping on some Y Fenni cheese.

I'm green with envy! I had some great times in Toulouse...........very fond memories. I still wear my old Toulouse 1994 championship shirt (proper one!) with pride.fleabane wrote:Big Dai: Fronton, Buzet, Gaillac are my local wines, Montauban et Toulouse my rugby clubs; cassoulet, sanglier, chanteclere apples and goats cheese the local produce. Good man, Dai!
I have just poured a generous glass of Buzet for myself and Mme Robespierre and yes, there'll be some goats' and sheep's cheese to finish the bottle!
With every mouthful I'm becoming more confident of une belle victoire française!

Yeah! I took plenty of stick during the World Cup, but twas water off a duck's back as I remember the number of times I've gloated after an English victory over les méchants français!!killer938 wrote:Living in France and having had to listen to them when England went out of the World Cup, I find it very difficult to ever support France

Re: Franco-English Anglo-French banter
Les Bleus fail us again - typical French.
Notice Stade lost at home today to Grenoble 18-33 and stay in 11th in the table. Could it be that both teams will only have Euro hopes come April! Actually probably already the case for Stade. Let's hope they continue to struggle.

Oui, les Bleus :=(
Even with a few players missing, I was surprised by SF's defeat to Grenoble.
I had been expecting SF to begin to move up the table and maybe be in contention for the end of season playoffs, but it seems that the European Cup will now be their priority.
Later today, Stade toulousain are at home to Montpellier and Toby Flood is playing centre again. ST won at Montpellier earlier this season so I'm expecting Montpellier to be looking for revenge this afternoon.
Allez les Tigres cette après-midi!

Are there any "sweaties"here who'll be supporting Scotland next Sunday against Les Bleus? if so, they may well be happy come the final whistle!

Och - no this thread agin!Robespierre wrote:Are there any "sweaties"here who'll be supporting Scotland next Sunday against Les Bleus? if so, they may well be happy come the final whistle!
As Rabbie said:
“While Europe's eye is fix'd on mighty things,
The fate of empires and the fall of kings;
While quacks of State must each produce his plan,
And even children lisp the Rights of Man;
Amid this mighty fuss just let me mention,
Beating Les Bleus will merit some attention.”
I thank you!

Re: Franco-English Anglo-French banter
So, if the Frogs beat the Sweaties this afternoon it will set things up nicely for next Saturday night in Paris when they'll be in with a chance of winning the 6N. Now, who'd have thought that a month or two ago!
