Barrow

Post by RWA »

Mightily imoressed with Dom Barrow yesterday and since he joined. A lot of clubs were after him and you can see why. Aside from a few silly penalties in games, he's been excellent. A real physical, gnarly lock, absolutely huge with an engine and good hands to boot !! Seeing him "live" yesterday, he gave a the excellent Thrush a run for his money. He can only get better.

Agree RWA, and Jeremy Thrush is a top player!
He's still young, but is big and athletic, and seems to have a great attitiude. A very shrewd signing (much to Deano's chagrin apparently!)

There aren't many 22 year old locks operating at his level.

Top prospect.

Barrow got some stick for various things from some recently but what I like about him is that he seems to play right on the edge.

He has been outstanding so far, was surprised when Cockers compared him to the mighty MJ in pre-season but I get what he was saying now, Certainly still needs to improve but you can see the potential is definitely there!

He reminds me of Slater when he first joined Tigers. Very aggressive, very raw but an exceptional talent. Fantastic signing.

Obviously it's early days, but he has impressed so far, and has a real 'edge' to his game. There will be mistakes, but he is developing well, and is already being compared by some to MJ, as stated earlier in this thread.

He impressed from very early on - he debuted for Leeds as a 17-year old, and has always been a talisman through age grade rugby. He has been compared to Johnno for years now.

Mind you, the same thing was said about Tom Palmer at the same age....

Barrow was a great signing. The only concern is what we do with all our talented young locks in a year or two when we've got contract renewals or when all of them are fit and we're leaving two or more of Fitzgerald (28), Slater (27), Kitchener (26), de Chaves (25), Williams (24) or Barrow (22) out of the match-day squad!

Not the worst problem to have, to be honest :)
