Officiating

Wigglesworth and Co are useless, "I heard the ball get touched" when nobody was near it and then a knock-on when Veainu clearly still had a thumb on it

Regardless of the officiating, both were basic errors and cost us tries.

We should not be blaming the ref entirely for our own basic mistakes, we were awful.

Take the points and make sure we put it right for next week, season of good will ends next week.

Wrigglesworth's refereeing was atrocious - correction it was worse than that!.

Offside line ignored, repeated (coached) crossing - some penalised but no cards
Three successive penalties in the "red zone" - no cards.

He had no idea what was going on in the scrum!

And a new question for the TMO - "Can you find a reason for me to dissallow this try?"

...and don't get me started on referee's assistants..
Completely pointless if they can't work out what is and isn't in touch, if a line out throw is straight, if a prop is binding correctly and endless infringements under their noses.

To paraphrase Oscar Wilde:

To not ground one ball correctly may be regarded as a misfortune; to not ground both correctly looks like carelessness.

The grounding was in our own hands. The poor officiating unfortunately was not. Wigglesworth was, as ever, abysmal.

Wiggles worth without doubt is a farce of a ref. His performance against Exeter in the LV last year was a man of the match performance for them.

The problem with MR.W as ref is that I believe, subconsciously all teams have no respect for him so most games he refs turn into niggly affairs. In the first quarter of the game yesterday he had the chance to take both captains to one side and have a firm word. Still, we won and could have had the bonus point at the end as the ball most certainly wasn't knocked forward in what turned out to be the last move of the game! Cannot though, complain about the two disallowed tries. Tait in particularly had no real downward pressure! Finally the pack certainly needs to vastly improve for Sarries!

As I understand it, in both cases, Mr W. was awarding the try, until told by the TMO to wait until he had seen a replay, as the grounding in each case was suspect. He did not refer either try to the TMO.
Do not think that I am supporting him, as he completely ignored head rolls, side entry into rucks and mauls, offside, etc etc.

A totally inept and dangerous performance by a third rate set of officials. The game was about them, and not the rugby players.

And I think our coaches were fuming about the wasted opportunities- was it ignoring the basics or, showboating?

Can confirm that both tries were awarded and the TMO suggested that he should look at the grounding.
