World Rugby to experiment with two Referees

Post by Brianf »

According to the BBC, in New Zealand as an experiment. Could be an interesting development.

Could be very interesting if both are reffing the scrum at the same time. Ref 1 penalised the loose head and Ref 2 thinks its the tight head, both give a penalty in opposite directions, hilarious!

They could always restart the game with the Aussie rules ball bounce up! :smt005

And Dullan can always claim his comments were directed at the other one :smt003
Nowadays referees decide matches, players by how much.

I see real problems for Marcos, as he will need the clock stopping when he lectures 2 referees on the precise nature of his superior scrummaging techniques!

Frightening. Imagine a Garner-Wigglesworth combination. Doesn't bear contemplating.
Tigers for the premiership and European Cup. Get behind the team and make some noise!!

But the referee is the sole arbiter of fact - even with a TMO. What hapens when there are two referees? Toss a coin?

Or just equip all stadiums with electronic voting equipment on every seat and allow the crowd to make the calls! :smt003

Just 2 idiots making wrong discussions about scrummaging now. Unless they do something remarkable like employ an ex front row forward as the second ref who may actually understand something about it.

Mighty mouse, yes it would be good to get ex players to become refs, trouble is they don't want to do it, why?
