I watch German football (Bundesliga) and there the announcers call out the forename of the player and the crowd respond with surname, works really well, if you can get buy in from the crowd :smt023

I try every week, shouting, and I know others (I hear some on the terrace) do the same, for each player. It normally starts well then people seem to go all Goldfish and forget why they're there! You get almost pitiful or amused looks from some when you're one of two or three cheering each name.

Probably interferes with their grumbling about Cockers.......

Mind you, if the person who normally stands a few rows down the terrace from me put as much energy into cheering the names as he does at berating the ref, opposition players, opposition coaches, usually inanely, then we wouldn't need anyone else in the whole stadium to cheer :smt003 halftime Vs Munster was a classic example, you could actually tell he was winding up for a bellow at Garces as they came of the pitch, and he did, Garces either didn't hear, didn't understand or didn't care......quite embarrassing really. Hope he had his blood pressure pills with him......
Faithless is he that says farewell when the road darkens.

You can just tell what Christmas in the "We MUST have songs " households will be like: compulsory charades and pass the parcel.

It would be great if we had the Munster songs in our locker, and the type of traditional song that the Welsh droids have, no question. But we don't. And a tradition cannot be consciously invented, it's like history, anything that is forced is not palpable. Ask America, a country that has no history and as such invents its own, "WOW MAN THAT MUST BE LIKE FIFTY YEARS OLD, AWESOME!!"
This is similar to the type of rushed history that marketing people invent to cement a brand, sarries for example.
But fear not tigers, we may not have the karaoke crowd of the Munster men, but we do have history and tradition. In fact the very essence of our :censored: heeeeaaaaavvvveeee chant is steeped in history and tradition. We also have the ABC club, we have a club blessed with England and lions players, captains and legends. Even the name "Tigers" is steeped in history and reverts back to the local regiment, not like sale "sharks" a name invented by marketing people.
In short do not dispare at our lack of songs, but rejoice in our abundant history, and above all sing with pride.........TIIIIIIGGGGGEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!
The sooner we get done, the more we can do !

Whatever happened to the traditional choir and accompanying helicopter performance of Christmas carols?

One for the Munster fans, " it's so lonely on the terrace at Welford Road" to a well known tune. :smt001
