Tigers v Munster

Post by tigerburnie »

With Mike Williams likely to be out with a suspected broken arm, who do we think will be in the side this weekend at Thomond Park?
Whilst Munster are far from the formidable side they once were, perhaps neither are we. We do seem to have some momentum going into the game and if the fans reactions are anything to go by, Munster are doomed to failure, even their own are smelling fear in the town.
I fancy a bit of an upset with Tigers winning away from home in the most difficult of venues in the European competition.

Win away at Thomond? For a second time? I'd have listed Stade Marcel-Michelin and Stade Mayol above Thomond as most difficult of venues for visiting in the European competitions.

Agreed, although I would have Bell ahead of Bai covering 10 (but with Burns on the bench if fit). I too would like to see Fitz at 6 ahead of Slates with Slater probably more effective at scrum time at 4 and Fitz probably slightly quicker away from the scrum at 6. Hoping Leo and Tait are fit too!! I am normally a Crane fan but would be very disappointed to see him start at 8- McCaffrey has earnt the shirt IMO with some very impressive performances and his showing from the bench vs. Wuss was no different.

As for the result I think this is a very good chance for us to go to Munster and win, especially with their injuries, although they will no doubt raise their game at Thomond for the HC. However an LBP is an absolute minimum, I would take winning the double header 5-4 now, but do think this could be Tigers' year to top a European pool and get a home quarter final.

Tait isn't fit. He may be back for the return home fixture but I doubt he will start.

Wet and windy weather forecast, not sure that will make a difference, the lads will have had all the practice they need after the Barf game.

We have some great forward options and normally I would say Crane would not make the bench right now. However Weather conditions in South West Ireland, with Barney Desmond and whatever their successor is battering that part of the world, Crane might just be the right man for the job. To me he excels when the weather is at its worst. Just an another element to consider carefully!

Thank goodness we are in the covered stand and I have arranged that the wind will be blowing the rain away from that stand. Looking forward again to this great trip and the munster supporters dinner before the game.

Regarding the team: I would not mind any of the forward combinations so far mentioned but I would have Bell on the bench if Burns is not fit and I am fairly certain Tait won't be fit so Goneva on the wing and Veainu at full back. Might even go with Bell even if Burns is fit - he covers FB and SO and is a decent enough kicker of goals and has been playing
Hehehehehehehehe

Don't forget that Treviso provided lots of wet weather practice too!

Of course. I was there in 2007 but sadly cannot make it this weekend. :smt010
