The Rugby Paper Fissler files(again)
Apparently we are in talks with:
Toomua and Nadolo being touted.
Would need to pay release fee for Toomua.
But he is still in the World Cup and plays 12 and 10 which are areas we need to improve.
We can dream.
Nadolo is more likely of the 2 have quite a few links with him.
Mauger, Lote, Goneva, Bai, McCaffrey
But still will prob be only a dream.

Saw that as well.
From the article though it seems like we're closer to getting Toomua as the bit talking about Nadolo focuses more on his Exeter stint then how close we are/how likely we are about getting him. At least with Toomua it mentions we'd have to pay a release clause.

Much as I like Nadolo, do we really need another winger? We have been saying for months we need a play maker and Matt Toomua is certainly that. I am Santa and I believe that one as the Marquee and the other within the salary cap would make everyone else believe that pigs do really fly and scare them to hell with our backs lineup.
Hehehehehehehehe

Yep Nadolo played 12 and 13.
Looking at backs I know who are out of contract there is
Bai
Youngs
Manu
Goneva
Smith
Thompstone
Benjamin
Loamanu
Camacho
Potentially Williams, Bell, Burns, Roberts.
There was talk of Bai maybe becoming a player/ backs coach for academy (which would be a good move).
Who will Mauger want to keep etc will he eye to free up cap and bring in some of the academy backs like Bryant, Odogwu, worth who got game time this preseason esp Worth and Odogwu.
We could free up a lot of cap BUT it could cost us squad depth.

There must a question over whether Tigers can keep Benjamin and Camacho who seem to be forever injured.

It is a shame about the Argentina ruling meaning you have to play for the super rugby team to play for Argentina.
Some very good players esp in the backs and a certain Matera.

The end of Marcos' international career then?RagingBull wrote:It is a shame about the Argentina ruling meaning you have to play for the super rugby team to play for Argentina.

So a potential backline of
9. YBY
10. Williams
11. Betham
12. Toomua
13. Tuilagi
14. Goneva
15. Tait
With Mauger coaching doesn't seem too bad, does it?

Re: The Rugby Paper Fissler files(again)
Toomua fits the bill more than Nadolo for me. We've always looked better with a midfield general in at 12, someone to not be flash, but make things tick around them, Howard, Kafer, Mauger, Gibsom, Allen.
With the likes of Tuilagi, Betham, Goneva etc out wider, we have genuine firepower, at 12 I'd like to see someone who can make room for them to play. We have recruited a lot of power, time to add some guile as well.
As for Benjamin and Camacho, maybe that explains the rumoured signing of Telusa Veianu.
The only other are I think/thought we could do with bolstering, is prop, given Rizzo's injury, so if the rumours of Sears-Djuru are true, I think we'll be pretty well wrapped up.
Toomua, Veianu and Sears-Djuru would be a cracking wrap up of the playing squad.

Toomua's been on my shopping list for months. Good player. Nadolo would be good, but I think a little wasted with the talent out wide. A wider place kicking option though, which we lack at the moment.
Argentina: I think Marcos might be allowed a "front row" dispensation.

Nice to have some rumours about players heading in rather than the RP seemingly linking every one of our star players to the door.

Some what concerned with Toomua as from various games that i have seen him play in he has suffered with concussion on numerous occasions. A player i would be very keen on would be Matt Scott of Scotland!

One of the Canadian centres looked pretty useful too
Re: The Rugby Paper Fissler files(again)
My usually very reliable source mentioned to me the Tigers are interested in Nemani Nadolo before the home KOTN match v Sale. He also gave me a name for our 2016-17 marquee player.
