the Super League "Magic Weekend" seems to go from strength to strength oop north, and following a conversation about it on 5live, i got to wondering, would this be something that the Aviva Premiership could adopt to increase interest and engagement? 6 games over a weekend featuring all 12 AP teams in a festival of rugby, held somewhere centrally? a fun idea? or too hard to convince 6 teams to give up a home game in a competative league?
what do we all think?
could the AP learn something from league?

only 5 teams would need to give up a home fixture if it was held at WR

I am so glad we don't have to take part in the Double header now some one is suggesting something even worse. Rugby league is very localised mostly played in grounds easily accessed from the M62. Union has a wider base and few ground capable of hosting several matches and sets of fans outside of Twickenham. A soccer pitch would be ruined by three matches in 24 hours.

The Magic Weekend is in addition to the full home and away schedule.
You'd be annoyed if Tigers' extra fixture was against Bath while Saints got Worcester.
Thankfully Union isn't in the desperate situation of needing these daft gimmicks to get people through the gates due to dwindling attendances.
No thank you

Yes they could learn something, how to transfer back some of the ex league players and coaches, names escape me at the mo, but didn't England have a couple?

Saints are losing to Worcester at this precise moment!Iain wrote:The Magic Weekend is in addition to the full home and away schedule.
