And whi is going to be captain.

If Robshaw goes who gets the armband? Surely not Woods, Parling, Hartley, Marler? Don't think YBY is the right choice. Not a huge fan of Robshaw, but struggling to see who his successor should be.

If fit the captain should be Ed Slater but he should be playing at number 8.

A position I don't ever remember him playing regularly for us...

No foreign based players???? Why should we take on the best in the world without being able to select from all our players. If they are good enough then they should be selected. Croft would be in my matchday squad as well.

As for captain - it needs to be someone who is the best in the country in their position and has the respect of his fellow players. There are very few of this lot who jump out and I don't envy the new coaches job in selecting one. I can see arguments for Slater and Ford, but am not convinced with either.

I don't see several surviving if Lancaster does not go, indeed I don't see anything but mayhem if he doesn't. I can't see Funbus and the other ex-England lot sitting on their hands at the RFU, nor the port&stilton brigade now that Andrew/Lancaster cost them £m in revenues. I can see Andrew survivng however as he was already trimming before the debacle in suggesting this was a team for 2019 - he knew it was squeaky-bum time and which way it was heading.

I would love to see a back line of Simpson/Youngs, Cipriani/Ford, Slade, Daly/Manu, May, Watson and Brown. That would be interesting and would certainly ask a lot of questions in attack, but would it be strong enough in defence?

Slater played 6 a few games last season when coming back from injury and didn't look out of place.

I would have Corbisiero in but unfortunately he is too injury prone.

I've had a think this morning about what squad could/should be picked and I have struggled with some positions, for example, flankers.

Here is mine: (32 players chosen- not sure of 6 nations squad size)

Head coach- Rob Baxter
Assistant/backs coach- Alex King
Forwards coach- Graham Rowntree

Prop
Mako Vunipola
David Wilson
Dan Cole
Kieran Brookes

Hooker
Tom Youngs
Jamie George
Luke Cowan-Dickie

Second Row
Joe Launchbury
Maro Itoje
Geoff Parling
George Kruis
Graham Kitchener

Flanker
Dave Ewers
Matt Kvesic
Tom Croft
Ed Slater

Number 8
Ben Morgan
Billy Vunipola

Scrum Half
Ben Youngs
Joe Simpson
Danny Care

Fly Half
George Ford
Danny Cipriani

Centre
Henry Slade
Elliott Daly
Jonathan Joesph
Manu Tuilagi

Wing
Jonny May
Anthony Watson
Christian Wade
Jack Nowell
