Yeah... not sure there'll be a great turnout for this. To be fair, this game was only ever to satisfy a gap in the price paid for the season ticket. It might have been better to have given a part refund or a voucher for food or drink to season ticket holder's all told, since this is ultimately a development game in all but name. With some tasty World Cup games on tomorrow I wouldn't blame anyone who gave this one a miss.

Still.... a few points of interest in the team. Another Tuilagi, a young Umaga, a run out for Odogwu and Loamanu being given a run in the back row.

Also shame Camacho is not quite ready yet would of been a good one to ease him in.

16/17 year old
Got to be at least 17 years old to be playing adult rugby so he can't be 16!

Loughborough Students have a 1st team fixture in National 1 tomorrow.
They are one win out of four played and lying in 15th early season so not sure what to expect from their reserves.

Ford made his debut @ 16 for us in the LV cup @ 16.

Think there are ways around it (if they are involved with England age groups).

He is most likely 17 now though.

Probably, it just leads to less than complete youngsters wanting it all before their time IMO, so no rush!

So now our Season ticket includes an Academy fixture which would be free anyway?

That's how it feels to be fair. To be honest, as a season ticket holder I'm a bit miffed that this is deemed to be value for money for a seventeenth of the price I pay. I really would have rather we had been reimbursed for them being unable to get a suitable opponent for the pre-season friendly.

I'm beginning to find this a bit of a turn off, and I don't get this fixture.
Young Freddie must be 18 or 19 by now and he should be starting at this level against Loughborough reserves.
I'm starting to feel like a lot of spin is being thrown at me to be honest.
