I wouldn't want to be SA's next opponents after that. Amazing from Japan. The audacity to go for the win. Truly amazing.

Hats off to them to go for the win and not just take the three points when they got that late penalty. Great decision, great win. So pleased for them. Have set the box to record the highlights tonight.

Was trying to think of other unexpected wins and could really only come up with Western Samoa beating Wales.

Congratulations, Japan.

No one crying out for Eddie Jones to replace SL yet? Brill display really delighted for them, very well done.

Ps and also Steve Borthwick. :smt045

I thought the Japanese played a brilliant game. They made some very intelligent moves and played with real courage skill and guile.

Would England have beaten them today? Interesting question as we could meet them in the quarter finals!

The emerging rugby nations are in the right country, us Brits love an underdog and it looked like the stadium in Brighton was right behind them.

A brilliant day for rugby and the World Cup, but I for one am a tiny bit concerned about meeting Japan in the knockout stages.

A brilliant day for Japan

A brilliant day for Rugby, that was pretty incredible.

When SA ran through a few soft tries in the seond half I thought Japan would fold but they kept on fighting and those two second half tries were great..

I was punching the air more today than I did last night

Go on then I'll say it.

I think I'm turning Japanese, I think I'm turning Japanese, I really think so!
In my defence, I was left unsupervised….

With hindsight, interesting to read this: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/rugbyu ... -boys.html

Perhaps R Andrew is already plotting Borthwick's rise to the coaching summit of England rugby??!!

Undoubtedly SA were there for the taking but who'd have thought Japan were capable of it. Great coaching and team performance. Watched it on ITV player late last night and it was compulsive viewing.
