Oh dear! Manu should have kept his mouth shut. But so should Lancaster!

I have not read any quotes from Manu that he had already informed Lancaster he would miss the world cup prior to the outcome of his case ?

Having read the article I don't see anything he's said that he shouldn't. The press would have made more out of it if he didn't reply. Manu has done himself no favours here so lets try not to flip this back onto Lancaster for who the matter was finished.

At the Argentina game I heard more along the lines of Manus story than I did Lancaster side of the story.

Although source is Tigers I do trust them 100% and have been very reliable with there information.

I suspect Lancaster took a verbal statement from Tuilagi that he would not be fit for the RWC with a pinch of salt. Had it been said by authorised medical staff it may have been a different story. But with many months to go who knows what medical treatments and options could or may have been used to get Tuilagi fit. I am with Lancaster on this one. Tuilagi wasn't lying. But he himself verbally saying he didn't believe he would be fit for the RWC isn't enough for Lancaster to dismiss the idea of him making it. Even if Lancaster thought his chances of being fit were small he had to make the definitive disciplinary decision to allay any doubts. And as he says he can only work off the verdict of the case. He can't second guess the legal ins and outs.

I guess it just opens up the road for Manu to put on a Toulon Shirt sooner than later?

It leaves it exactly the same - Lancaster COULD have said 'Manu told me his training had broken down, we haven't had a final medical confirmation but as a disciplinary response to his conviction....'. Omission? Convenient!
Previous England managers would have made it clear IMO.

JGriffin, could i ask you again where are the quotes where Manu claims he had informed Lancaster he was out of the RWC ?

I can see in the Guardian article that the journalist makes that claim, but i do not see Manu saying or claiming that ?

Incidently, just a few days before, RC did an interview stating Manu would be fit in early June and joining the Engaknd squad. Here are said quotes from RC.

Well Manu seems to be burning a few bridges here as well as digging the hole deeper so I'm assuming he's off to France at some point.

I do agree with Lancaster's stance on squad discipline but unfortunately it's totally undermined and hypocritical by having Clark in the EPS. Assault on the field is ok but assault on the street is not?
Nowadays referees decide matches, players by how much.

Ah but he showed remorse!

BTW I agree. Clark deserved a lifetime ban. Lancaster selecting him for England squad totally hypocritical!

Yep. Not a happy bunny as he dragged along the dead ball area today. I'm glad he is at Tigers, for he is not abandoned (cf Tait at Sale)
