Big Boot Back

Post by Noggs »

'B' is for Big Boot which is to be back again next season.

Whilst it's a bit of fun it is very clear that nobody is ever going to achieve 10 out of 10 catches, hence, the prize money is never going to be won and as it accumulates the failure to win will become more serious and painful. Surely it is time to change the rules such that, say, the best score at the end of the season wins the available accumulated total at that time or if this is too complicated the money at the end of the season goes to the club charities. :smt023

It would be a good idea to see how a Tigers side did with the big boot...each catch should be worth a donation to charity.

I reckon I could catch all 10...Where do you go to sign up to this :smt003

I was one of the slowest fullbacks that ever played..only against teams who kicked a lot due to my catching skills :smt023

I seem to remember this subject being broached with Cockers at a supporters evening and his response was something along the lines that this had been suggested to the players but they were not over keen. I hasten to add that this was not in the context of doing it for charity.

I have thought that giving £50 for 5 catches would not be a bad idea.

Good. I'm determined next season to get a team together to try this.

Please advertise on here if successful and at which match you'll be attempting it :smt003

Can't speak for White Cap, but I'm definitely in the latter party :smt023

DMU is sponsoring the event and they don't like to give money away so it has to be an impossible task. :smt003

It's a bit more entertaining than the old place kicking competition. Still little more than a side-event to my conversation with friends. That's all the half time entertainment I need.

It's clearly meant to be a bit of fun. But that is my problem with it. It's not really. The worst groups of people have no chance of even notching up a point and the best can pick off a handful but have no chance of collecting a prize. Is the machine adjustable? I would have thought so. So why not start with a couple of easier ones and then ramp it up. It's no fun as it is. It happens right in front of us hence I guess I am more attuned to it :smt003

I think you're overthinking this.
