Re: 2014/15 Rumours/Contracts/Signings part 4
We don't have enough young players in our back line this year. Plenty of experience and quality, not enough pace and energy.
Re: 2014/15 Rumours/Contracts/Signings part 4
Thankyou Doghashaditsday I was getting my Jason's and Jamie's mixed up but it seems I provided laughs for a few posters. Who is out of contract? I don't know, why should I do Tigers scouting job for them, they are supposed to know these things, but they are probably asleep which may mean we pay them too much.

Re: 2014/15 Rumours/Contracts/Signings part 4
I really like the direction our Forwards are heading.
We are on average younger, Heavier and what appears to be more mobile.
Considering we can have 3 packs of:
1XV
1) Ayerza, 2) Youngs, 3) Cole
4) Slater, 5) Kitchener
6) Croft, 7) O'Connor, 8) Fonua
2XV
1) Mulipola, 2) Leo, 3) Balmain,
4) Fitzgerald, 5) De Cheves
6) Williams, 7) Mccaffrey, 8) Crane
3rd XV
1) Rizzo, 2) Bateman, 3) Tiz
4) Burrow, 5) Maksymiw
6) Beckett, 7) Owen, 8) Pearce
and a 25 and under pack of:
1) Brugnara (21), 2) Thacker (21), 3) Balmain (23)
4) Kitchener (25), 5) De chaves (25),
6) Williams (23), 7) O'Connor (25), 8) Pearce (24)
16) Farnworth (20), 17) Hills (18), 18) Tiz (20), 19) Burrows (22), 20) Milne (21)
Backs IMO just need a 12/13 maybe depending if Manu fits there or Roberts might get a look at. or if Tait fits in @ 13 maybe a 15

I tell you what, look at it like that and we have built a superb forwards squad.
I actually think you can do something similar with the backs - what's lacking there isn't depth but some top end quality.

Re: 2014/15 Rumours/Contracts/Signings part 4
Indeed great that our forwards have such strength in depth. Its the backs that still require serious attention, winning plenty of ball is vital but being unable to do anything with it remains unacceptable.Iain wrote:I tell you what, look at it like that and we have built a superb forwards squad.

Without hope we are nothing, keep the faith, a Tiger for eternity

I suppose cockers has been able to build his forwards for a while.
And Mauger will now get his chance to have his say in the backs.
Although our backs coming up through the academy are looking very promising hopefully Mauger likes them.
I think we are one Top class marquee back to having a brilliant back squad though.

As you say, forwards seem to be really well covered - would like to see Manu and Tait given a go at 12/13.
Raging Bull - thanks for your efforts on this thread - top stuff!

Re: 2014/15 Rumours/Contracts/Signings part 4
Agreed with Iain, our pack, as usual, looks really good, and I expect it to live up to expectation. Backs look like they're lacking wee bit, but if we can get some systems in place and play with some shape in attack, then, with just a tad bit of fortune on the injuries front, I think we could see quite a lot out of that lot next season.
Also, particularly to RagingBull, but also as a point in general, I feel Fonua has a lot to prove before I call him the best 8 in the squad. He's been impressive in 2 pretty poor teams, so I'll reserve judgement. I retain my excitement at the prospect of him proving himself in the shirt though.

As far as I am aware Catchpole hasn't signed a senior contract hence why he isn't in the senior squad.
Once the senior squad gets officially released it will become clearer.

Falatau's move to Bath is under threat over the complications of international release and the knock on effect of his Wales career admit the new proposals nicknamed "Gatland's law".

Re: 2014/15 Rumours/Contracts/Signings part 4
So, despite my earlier post, does this mean the THREE faces of Warren Gatland??
Re: 2014/15 Rumours/Contracts/Signings part 4
Bath deal falls through but Saracens step in to reunite Faletau with his cozzes Vunipola and make deal with WRU. you heard it here first (about a week ago).

Do you really think we will hang onto Pearce as a 3rd choice 8?RagingBull wrote:I really like the direction our Forwards are heading.

Backs IMO just need a 12/13 maybe depending if Manu fits there or Roberts might get a look at. or if Tait fits in @ 13 maybe a 15
If he remains fit he would be my starting 8 with Crane as the alternative where we need a stopper of an 8 against big but less mobile packs.
We still seem rather thin at centre even if Tait returns to centre both he and Manu are injury prone. Owen Williams did a good job there early last season but he's on the comback from a knee reconstruction.
