You could... but Smith has always been a regular at 13 and Goneva was a regular at 13 for club and country before he joined us. So only Williams is obviously out of position. Much like regular winger/fullback Wyles at Saracens, acting as a centre for much of this season.
Like I said, our situation is not without precedent at other clubs. Whilst it's true that combining it with so many other issues at the same time exacerbates the problem, pretending that the circumstances make it impossible for the backline to function just excuses the avoidable failings.
It's not all the backs fault! The pack have lost the ability to catch and drive
from a lineout. To drive a maul anywhere. To dominate a scrum and sometimes,
even a line-out.
For all the very good individuals, the sum of their parts is not proportionate.
For a club that has a DOR who is also meant to be a top forwards coach we are poor.

We need a pack leader like Johnno for a start.
Slater? Injured.
Agree. Slater back next season will see us stronger in this department, IMHO.

Aaron Mauger?
Faithless is he that says farewell when the road darkens.

True!
In that case: who assented to these signings, I wonder...?
