Manu #2

Post by floridaboy »

Manu was at a Oxfordshire youth team the other day promoting Freddys academy.
He was asked many questions, but one was how is his injury. He said " Its been awful not playing, really frustrating, but watch this space, I could be playing again by the end of the month"

What do we all make of that?
Wishful thinking or will he be back for the play-offs ???

I would ignore it. It's an off the cuff remark with no detail.

Sadly, I agree. Like all of us I am chomping at the bit to see him back, but it needs to be when he is truly ready, and I suspect there may be some wishful thinking in Manu's comments.

It will be great to see him back, but I'm not going to count any chickens!!

I have a feeling that Manu is over-keen and over-optimistic. He's probably having to be reined in by the coaches and medics.

For his own good.

Even if he feels totally fit for the end of the season, I wouldn't want him coming back until the medics are 100% certain he'll not break again. Better to have him fully fit next season than have another 3-match comeback and then break.

The next time Manu plays he will be wearing an England kit.

I'm not so sure.

I understand that he is chomping at the bit but he has previously said that this time he would not come back until he was 100% certain he was fully fit. On that basis I doubt he would have said what he did without some indications from the medics on timescales.

Could be my wishful thinking of course :smt038

What he would like to be doing and what the rehab team allow may not match!

We watched a full training session earlier this week & Manu was one of the players that went no where near the training field (along with some others). Just working out in gym.
Looks very fit & no obvious issues walking around.....but nothing more
