rugby shirts
Can somebody please tell me what that lump is (about the size of a Swan Vestas match box) in the back of rugby shirts, international and league matches.

Re: rugby shirts
As a slight aside if you watch Saracens at the moment they have devices taped behind their ears which are being used in studies on the effects of concussion
Re: rugby shirts
GPS devices for the production of useless stats with which to remove by coaching the individuality of players.
Amazed that they are so large in this techno age.

Re: rugby shirts
The England cricket team's reliance on such stats benefited them greatly didn't it? (pre empting any responses from anyone who knows me, yes I have got a degree in stats!)
Re: rugby shirts
I thought they were the actuator end of some bizarre remote control device. These allow the coaches to steer the less intelligent members of the team into position using the ubiquitous x-box handset.
The Tigers use then to supress any free thought or footballing ability.

I think the size issue is mainly down to padding around the device including transmitter.
I understand they are very helpful to the conditioning team in understanding things like work rate and stamina allowing fitness training to be designed to maximise the benefit each player. Very small margins can make very big differences on the field; for example, just making the tackle or just missing it
Now if you could introduce radio control.....

Oh I thought they were swan vestas so they could have quick fag at half time and after the match.
But really they are tracking devices - is this a new law from Theresa May?

Nowadays referees decide matches, players by how much.

Re: rugby shirts
The players wear them in training also. Apparently they can tell a player is unwell before the player notices any symptoms.
Presumably they can also be used to pick point players that are either flagging, concust or carrying an injury and target their subs accordingly.
