Terrible news. Gives Burns a good crack though.

Absolutely gutted for Williams.

As you say, time for Burns to shine!

A hammer blow for Owen and the club, full details reported here

3rd ACL injury in two seasons leaves us very exposed at 10 but will give Burns a starting birth. If Burns is injured then who is left to do the business at 10? :smt010

Unfortunate, but combined with Allen's injury may give Jack Roberts an AP start, or at least a bench seat with Bai starting at 12.
Maybe but the length of this injury is very very bad for us.

That crossed my mind around ten mins ago when I saw a headline about Goode leaving Wasps- he does fit the back-up fly half criteria at Tigers if previous years are anything to go by! Irish is a great move for him.

With my positive head on...

Great opportunity for Burns now. We all know he's a good player. Hopefully he will feel more secure in the team and that his kicking yips have been sorted.

Late start to next season should mean Williams will miss less of it and hopefully he will be ready to give Burns a rest a couple of months into the season.

With my negative head on...

We now have no clear back up 10.

Burns has looked flaky a few times this season.

Our injury woes continue.

gutted for the guy, just starting to really grow in the role, but as said above it gives Burns a chance. According to the merc we have burns, bai, mele, bell and bryant as backups.

I wonder if there is any analysis going on with regards to the artificial pitches and injuries. It's got to be a huge advantage to players who regularly play on them.
cheers

Bell played a bit at 10 for Wasps.

Also played 10 for England U20's if I remember rightly.

Bryant and Bai are 12's who are very handy at 10.

If Burns can maintain a modicum of self restraint and not throw speculative passes great. If not then we will be having a raffle for the number of interceptions that will cost us games!

I don't know about rugby but in hockey there has been a significant increase in the number of knee injuries with the advent of artificial pitches.

Well it's pleasing to see that nobody has jumped in with the usual lazy assumption that the club are some way at fault so far. There's still time though of course...

Has anybody got any idea of what actually happened in the game to cause the injury?
