Farewell Daggers!!

Post by Tigerbeat »

I believe that Sunday is the last game that you will hear Daggers on the commentary / summarising, interviewing Cockers for Tigers.

He is moving over to commentate on the cricket. He has always been good value to listen to and has always had time to speak to fans around the ground. Wishing you all the best of the future and you will always be very welcome at Welford Road.

But on the bad side he was always getting players teams and scorces wrong as well as having the laws explained on air on a number of occasions

Are you sure you are not mistaking Daggers for Bledders?

Daggers has been the anchorman for the live broadcasts on most occasions and has brought after match reaction.

Bleddyn Jones and Steve Johnson have been doing the live match commentary and will remain.

Not being an ex Rugby man I think his post match interviews with Cockers was often revealing and frank.

A real shame if Daggers won't be around as his interviews with Richard Cockerill are both entertaining and frank as he asks questions the fans would like to ask themselves. Top bloke and brilliant at his job but always thought he would be another Agnew. Hope he can still make the odd trip to Welford Road and do some more interviewing. :smt041 :smt038

Yes Daggers will be missed, he's really good at his job and engaging!

It would be good if Martin Ballard would take over that role but is he just too senior at RL...and I know he has other commitments such as panto at Xmas time.

Nevertheless Ballard is knowledgeable, engaging and a genuine rugby fan. Those commentators that aren't are quickly found out and never quite cut the mustard!

Agree, a shame to be losing Daggers, good luck to him. On the bright side did anyone else notice that Bleddyn spotted a new prop for Tigers, called Ayerza apparently. Yep, he actually got it right!!!

I like Daggers and he would be a loss to RL - but why not replace him with Chutes - it would brighten up the game no end!

Entertaining as it would be I suspect that Chuter might be a step too far for Radio Leicester at the moment.

hasn't Bledders son done some work for Radio Leicester as a presenter?

I expect someone will be hired to replace Daggers full time so he/she will likely be the new host long term
