RIP Phil Hughes

Post by trendylfj »

I have just woken up this morning to the sad news that Phil Hughes has just lost his fight for life in Australia. Sportsmen and women will mourn his loss throughout the world. A very talented cricketer and my thoughts are not only with his nearest and dearest but also with the bowler concerned.

A sad day for world sport.

Too young to be taken from the world. An unfortunate sporting accident and our thoughts are with his family and friends at this difficult time.
RIP Phil Hughes

Thoughts are also with Shaun Abbott, who bowled the bouncer that struck Phil Hughes. He did nothing wrong and was a good friend of Hughes.

(This thread will stay on the rugby forum as the sporting world come together)

A tragic reminder of what can go wrong in sport. Rugby has its own awful injuries as we know all too well at Tigers. All our thoughts and sympathies go to his family and to Shaun Abbott for his part in the accident. Not just cricket but the sporting world will be mourning this loss.

Really sad news. Thoughts to his friends, family and team mates. thoughts too for Abbott - we can only imagine what he's going through. Good to see that Hughes' family have supported him through this. RIP Phil Hughes

Terrible news.

My thoughts and prays go to all those involved.

I hope the media allow Abbott some time to grief.

I know it's a different Sport but there will be a one minute silence at Twickenham on Saturday and I Think that this should be replicated at Welford Road also.

Awful for Hughes, his family, and cricket. Terrible news.

I'm absolutely devastated for Abbott, too. I hope he'll get the support needed to come to terms with this for what it was, a tragic accident, and continue to enjoy playing the sport he loves.

Tigers have a link to Cricket Australia in that Pat Howard is the General Manager Team Performance for Cricket Australia.

Terrible accident, such a loss for his family friends and team-mates, and O hope the bowler gets the support and comfort he will need as well.

Had the pleasure of meeting him last year at the Boxing Day test in Melbourne. A truly lovely guy and a son any parent would be proud of. I know what his family are going through as my youngest son had a brain injury after a motor cycle accident - luckily he recovered but the anguish of those days in a coma are still raw. All true sports fans send there their love and respect to his family. So, so sad.

Very sad news RIP Phil Hughes
Also my thoughts go out to Shaun Abbott, can't imagine what he must be going though

England Rugby have posted on FB that there will be an applause to commemorate and celebrate the life of Phil before kick off tomorrow.

RIP

not sure what can really be learned from this as it hit him in the neck so wasn't really a failure of the equipment.

Such a sad tragedy, not that long after Jules Bianchi in F1 who is still in a coma I believe, been a bad year for Sport in this sense
